    Default REVIEW: Earth 2, #5

According to the cover of "Earth 2" #5, Grundy is the death god, but that doesn't stop Alan Scott from punching him square in the jaw.

There were some funny moments, when Flash:

Knocked Atom down and broke his helmet. Not to mention Alan and Atom having a pee contest.

The last page? Wow! So does this mean that Sam was really the grey all along? And he set Alan up before he could become a threat? The flame did say the crash was the cause of another.

Grundy isn't the Grey source, just the avatar. That seems clear now.

Flash here is almost goofy. My only beef is all the "I'm nobody with no future" bit from earlier issues. Really? Is he ragged, poor and on the street? Nobody coming out of college talks like that. That ball helmet is terrible, and he looks like a kid in this ish. Weird.

The artwork is still knockin' it out of the park. I'm getting too distracted staring at Alan's stuff.

    Sam's a lucky man/sponge mold.

Hmmm...no, I don't think it does mean that. As far as I can tell, it just means that the Gray is using Sam as a bargaining chip. Being dead, Sam is somewhat in the Gray's "jurisdiction," and apparently they claim the power to restore him to life (though I don't think we really know if they can restore him as much more than a zombie or puppe). It could be that the Gray killed Sam so that it would have this bargaining chip. Or that they were trying to kill Alan before the Green could appoint him their avatar, but the Green managed to save him. Or it could be that Sloan, having seen in the probability matrix that Alan was going to become Green Lantern, was trying to kill him and got Sam instead. Or someone else could be behind the killing. But I don't yet see much reason to think that Sam was really the grey all along. It will be interesting if you are right, though.

They make a good point. There was a lot of information dumped in this issue but it managed not to seem too busy. And as always the artwork was great.

You serious? There are loads of people who come out of university with a degree and realise they have no idea where they're going or what they're even going to do with what they learned.
