Never read any Green Hornet but Mark Waid being involved certainly has me interested. Having Paolo Rivera on covers is great too. Might have to check i out.
gonna depend on who's drawing the book, but I'm listening...
Paolo Rivera!
...on covers.
I like that so many comic solutions are "eh, just give it to Waid."
Definitely peaked my interest. I think everyone can agree that they were a bit disappointed to hear that Paolo Rivera was just doing covers.
Ok based on the press release, a few questions:
1. So Waid's going to be writing in the Green Hornet: Year One universe by Wagner?
2. Does this mean the current Green Hornet series is ending as well?
3. Where the heck is the last issue to Green Hornet Strikes? Its been over a year!
I like Waid, I have read the current ongoing through issue #27/28, can't recall the last number.
I'd be more excited if this was Waid doing the current ongoing but not opposed to picking this up.
It does sound like a riff on Dark Knight Returns though which means it's the original Hornet, the artwork also points in that direction along with the write up.
So, as someone else asked, cause the article doesn't say....is the current ongoing still going to be happening?

EMeadow, I was wondering about your second point as well. Not that I'd really miss the current run, as I prefer it set in the 30's/40's like the "Year One" series, where it belongs.
Never read this but with the movie and Waid my interest may pipe up.

The Matt Wagner series was great. The Kato Origins as well. I also read the Kevin Smith series but lost interest.
Rivera is great in pulp (cf. his The Twelve covers)
Sounds like the shot in the arm that the franchise needs. Wagner's work on "Year One" was incredibly good, and it's great to see that Waid is picking up on that. Really looking forward to this.
I'm hoping that the shot in the arm also sends some interest back to main ongoing.
I think the opportunity is there for crossover as well. Since stories with Reid Sr could conceivably have ramification on Jr in his role as Hornet. If nothing else then fully fleshing out legacy villains. Red Hand was a type of that but it was more with Kato. Black Hornet was an attempt at that when K.Smith started the series if I recall also, now Waid could really cut loose with that concept.

I only got back into comics around 2 years ago. I've been loving Waids run on Daredevil. Maybe Marvels best series. I'll check this out.
I've not read any Green Hornet though. Should I get the Year One trade?
