This should be called the Batman top 10 as 5 of the 10 books are Batman comics and he appeared in 6 of the top 10 with his alternate Earth self appearing in Earth 2 #0.
In 2015 DC comics will launch the Batman 52.

Never underestimate the value of a good gimmick.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
Good for DC. Impressive percentages for totals this month.
Schmitty's Evil Twin.
I find it tragic that Avengers vs. X-men #11 still tops the chart when it got such a negative reaction. Avengers vs. X-men went downhill fast, but unfortunately it's still an event and a gimmick so it sells. But I don't blame Marvel. They're a business. They need to make money. Fans are to blame whether they want to admit it or not because as long as event books keep selling, Marvel will keep making them.
DC's Zero month was great. I enjoyed many of the #0 books and I hope they continue to do stuff like this for years to come.

An event and a gimmick...like Zero Month. No begrudging anyone who liked the Zero issues (the Shazam-themed JL was the best issue of that book to date, in my opinion) but it was still a gimmick meant to bump sales. Now that DC's had two succeesful line-wide event months - with the reboot and now Zero Month - it makes me wonder if Marvel will try something similar down the line.
Why lament the fact that Avengers vs. X-Men #11 placed first? Sure, it wasn't a critical darling, but it wasn't offensive and/or atrocious, and I'm sure there are lots of Marvel fans of all ages out there (especially younger fans) who enjoyed it. It only makes sense that a superhero title feat. most of Marvel's major heroes would outsell everything else.
Congrats to DC for securing the rest of the Top 10 slots. I really enjoyed Batwoman #0 (Williams III channelling Mazzucchelli always works for me.)
It's part of the system...
Diamond sells to retailers, not to comicbook readers. And they sell the books three months before they come out. When #11-12 were ordered, issues #5-6 or so were just on the stands.
By the time anybody has a chance to find out how terrible #11 is Marvel has already made all its money from #11 and #12.
'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."
"In percentage terms, DC took dollar share at 36.41% to Marvel's 31.04% and uni share at 41.1% to Marvel's 33.65%. IDW finished a distant third with Image nipping at its heels."
That's a huge margin in favor of DC.
I don't think DC beat Marvel by that much even in September last year when the New 52 launched.
"Heads up-- If Havok's position in UA #5 really upset you, it's time to drown yourself hobo piss. Seriously, do it. It's the only solution." - Rick Remender
Sucks 200 character limit.
Nah, I think it was a relatively weak month for new issue sales and DC's sales held up better than Marvel's.
September is traditionally a weak month but DC used the Zero issue gimmick to offset that. Marvel had th secodn-last issue of an event and the Marvel now #1's haven't started yet.
I don't have high expectatiosn for Marvel Now I'm afraid. I'm sure the big titles will launch big but it's spread out over six months do it's unlikely to have the same impact as the DC relaunch.
