Default Stupidest TV Character when held at gun point

    Candidates:

    1. Elliot from Law and Order , SVU
    2. Pete from Warehouse 13

Watching a potential end of the world on Warehouse - Artie holds off 4 agents with a revolver. He has it aimed at Pete. If you do this for real, Artie could have been disarmed easily. Also, to save the world, the inability of the agents to pull the trigger rivals Batman's or Supes' inability to take down a world killer or monster (like the Joker).

I've seen Elliot in the same situation, cry like a baby and be helpless.

    Who else is equally incompetent?

To be fair when it comes to Pete and Artie..it's not exactly like Supes or Bats since the villains they fail to kill usually aren't also one of their good friends.

Off-topic, but related: How effective IRL is the hostage pose we've seen on TV/film, where the hostage-taker grabs the victim by the neck and holds the gun to their head? It seems all the hostage would have to do is grab the 'taker's gun arm and bite down on it real hard.

By the time you grab the arm they would have had time to shoot you in the head I imagine.
Also most people don't have the presence of mind to think of escape options while having a gun to there head.

If you do this stuff, you can avoid being shot if you are the hostage. Also, the person who has the gun on the hostage taker:

    1. Can make the shot if trained.
    2. To save the word, takes the shot.

Just silly scripting for supposedly trained people.

Really, the typical hostage stance doesn't look that hard when compared to what people are expected pull off on the shooting range

You are correct. Folks do the close in hostage shot quite a bit. They also learn how to get away in H2H. The risk is worth it to save the world. Now the planet is covered with plaque crap as Petey is a moron.
