Morning, everybody. Sending this message on my 3DS at a McDonald's.

I still can't believe that house explosion happened, but I lived in Southport for only 3 months in 1998. Still, we did check up on a police officer who lived just a half-mile away from that.

Christmas is about Santa Claus, and Rudolph, and decorating trees, and Frosty, and Christmas lights, and unicorns, and cookies, and presents! And therefore should be celebrated for as long as possible. If Christians want to celebrate the birth of some dude, on the same day that Santa comes, that doesn't bother me too much.

My Favorite Christmas Songs are Zat You, Santa Claus by Louis Armstrong and Christmas Unicorn by Sufjan Stevens.

    Good morning, nerds & cat!

30f this morning and I went to aerobics at 6:15am, hoping it warms up a bit because I really want to walk on the beach today (at least it is sunny).
What have I always believed? That, on the whole, and by and large, if a person lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, at the end, more or less, turn out ok.

My favorite holiday will always be Thanksgiving, but I like Christmas.

Due to the federal government, DC proper is very sterile during the holiday season, which sucks - I definitely miss city holiday lights at night. I also like Christmas eve lunch and Christmas Day dinner. And all of the classic Christmas cartoons. Since high school, I've been more into giving gifts and am cool with not receiving anything. My mom always gets me something practical, though, which I definitely appreciate.

This morning the city looked straight out of Stephen King's The Mist. Thick fog everywhere, even worse in NJ. I was expecting enormous insects to attack (and given that we're right on the Passaic, it's entirely possible).

Fortunately, you do not have to worry about awful CGI monsters coming out of that mist!

Manhattan at Christmas time is simply magical. To hell with Charlie Brown, that's one time the commercialism of Christmas works for me.

Bah, you could paint a toilet roll pink and call it a unicorn horn transformer and I would be happy. I just like stuff from friends. Especially CBR friends. I'm thinking of hanging Trix's glasses on the Christmas tree this year.

I cannot do that, we have to save all of our toilet rolls for our niece's hamsters.

And I have plenty of friends who are lapsed Jews(is there a better term for this?) who celebrate both holidays, and have bleed from one to the other.

But the actual narrative, the actual practices of the holiday(Menorah and all that)?

Pretty internally consistent, from my outsider's perspective

Edit: also, that was about Chanukah, not Christmas, so it doesn't count towards the shutting up part.

    Don't judge me!
That reminds me. I have to start cleaning the menorahs and getting them ready for this year.

Now to decide, olive oil wicks or candles. Decisions decisions.
