Avengers Arena is one of the best books in the shops right now, it's seriously amazing.

I think it was a 4.5 of 5
I'm planning on buying the Vol 1 trade, is this a good issue to read beforehand?
Action Comics, Animal Man, Batman Inc, Constantine, Earth 2, Flash, Green Arrow, Justice League, Justice League Dark,JLA, Saga, Stormwatch, Swamp Thing, Supergirl, Superman & Uncanny Avengers
I agree. I would have given it four stars. I know there was limited space to tell the story, but it still felt a bit rushed. I didn't feel that we got a good enough picture of how he processed becoming a vampire.
I don't believe there were any spoilers in it, so you could read it before volume one if you want. Or you could wait to read it until after #12 (or even after the trade). It's up to you. I don't know when the trade comes out, but if you want a taste of the series before you read it, then I say go for it.

Good story and great art. My one complaint about Sorrentino's art, however, is that I have often found it too dark, i.e., nearly impossible to figure out what is going on. Whoever is doing the colors needs to lighten up (pun intended) just a bit.
