Well if you're going to use that argument, then there is no room for debate since you're flatly denying the other perspective any credibility.

And in a lighter moment, I always liked to imagine Doakes doing a yoga session:

    Namaste Motherf****!

Which part of the chicken is Doakes' favourite?

    "The thighs, mother****er!"
    "He actually amnesty them!"

his race was never an issue. and there was nothing typical about Doakes. he was the ahab of those first few seasons.

What a mess at the end of season seven, can't wait to see how they sort that out. Deb probably has one of the better story arcs for supporting cast characters (though-out the series).

I thought he was a great foil for Dexter in the first two seasons.

I actually miss the character, not just for humor, but because he was the smartest cop by far in that whole station (Quinn is such a waste of space). He's the only one who actually figured out there was something wrong with Dexter.

Doakes was the best part of the show. It wasn't only white guys that thought that too. He was also seemingly the only competent detective in Miami.

Anderson was competent, as well. Perhaps moreso than Doakes, but he didn't have enough exposure to show whether that was the case or not.

It appears that Dexter will be returning June 30th instead of in the fall as it usually does.

i'm afraid if they rush into another season, possibly the last, that it won't be so good.

Plus the angry black man stereotype pretty much demands that the black man be dumber than a box of rocks and one who gets in trouble because he let his temper get the better of him. Doakes instead was very smart and the only one to figure out Dexter.
Price your book at $3.99 and I'll trade wait. Make me wait too long for the trade PAPERback and I'll say screw it. I'm looking at you Marvel and Spider Island.

To be fair, he did get in quite a bit of trouble because he let his temper get the better of him.

Dexter attacked him. and i'd say that his frustration was justified. he's surrounded by idiots; him being the only guy that picks up on Dexter's creepiness.

Dexter definitely antagonized the fight first with words then a head butt. I don't think the reason Doakes picked up on Dexter's real self was solely because of his great detective skills (certainly they had something to do with it though). I think it was mentioned in season two Doakes had a history with special ops and was an Army Ranger I think it was. To me it was his military history as a trained killer than made him recognize Dexter for what he is. A shared circumstance of being a killer, Doakes obviously being a RL hero opposed to Dexter as the protagonist serial killer.
