Enough with this "He was forced to use Batgirl", he was force to use the entire cast. Even Starling came about from editorial edict, to replace Lady Blackhawk. The book does seem like it definitely has some editorial problems and interference, but this "Batgirl wasn't even meant to be in the book" or "He was forced to use Batgirl" doesn't fly. They gave him the books cast from the start. Batgirl is far from BoP's problem, not that i think it has much of a problem, but it does seem like Swierczynski has been restricted by editorial in what he can do, and things he has to incorporate. Definitely felt it with the 0 issue.
I mean it has to be hard to have pretty much no control on any of ur characters. Even BC, his lead character, they have her in Team 7, this book thats set in the past and establishing this whole new origin. Coming out almost a year after the launch of the New 52. Starling seems like the only character he can really do anything with. Honestly its just another thing showing how poorly planned this relaunch really was. So many thing are just so messy, and quite frankly i have come to like the New 52 a lot less as they've gone along now. Especially with the 0 issues, ive could have done without those.

While I am not sure if this was directed at me or not. If it was, the whole "forced to use Batgirl" was not my main point. I also said he was force to remove a friendship, and I am sure forced to drop characters due to them joining or being used in other books, which made him rush a plot. My whole point was to say that Duane was forced to do a lot of things and change a lot of things, which is what you almost said. The stuff with BC origin was forced, which again helps my point.

But I dont agree with the fact that he was forced to use anyone other the Batgirl and Ivy. Katana and Starling (while a replacement for Zinda still was a choice) were all a choice, and I am sure if he picked someone else and not Katana and Starling it would have been ok. Now while BC was kinda forced, it was not in the same way as Batgirl and Ivy were. It was in away that BC has always been in BoP so it has to be done. At least one BC or Batgirl had to stay and he picked BC, then was forced to add Batgirl later.

I have no problems with Batgirl or Ivy or anything in his book, I am just over hearing that its all his fault when its not. Its a mix of faults if anything.

Do you think they would have to teach Supergirl english before there is a Batgirl and Supergirl team up? Or do you think it could work with out english?

Im not stating an opinion here, they gave him a list of who they wanted on the team. That was his starting point. LoL, hell he didn't even know much about Katanna let alone pick her. The whole cast was editorial edict from the beginning.

It's a bit hard to explain translations if two people don't understand each other. (Unless you're doing the "Me Tarzan, you Jane" method of speech.)

I mean she could try, she is smart enough to pick up a few thing. If Superman can't teacher, I guess Batgirl would not be a bad pick. It would be harder but, I guess it could be done.

It may have nothing to do with this, but the city was referred to as New Gotham immediately following NML.

It's my understanding that in this alternate one-year in the future Rotworld that New Gotham refers only to the former batcave.

Ya its in the future, but the funny thing is Synder said its not a alternate future, it is the future. So its going to happen, but my guess is Swamp Thing and Animal Man will find away to stop the Rot, go back into the past and fix it.
