glad they cleared up that "his name is now Tim Drake" part...it wasn't made abundantly clear in the actual issue.
anywho, it seems that they're hodgepodging all of the Robins' pasts together a bit now and I think Tim's new origin was probably the most successful.

"I really feel one of the most important and unique aspects of Tim's history is that he was the one member of the extended Bat-family who had truly loving and supportive parents. I felt that when they died, a little part of him that was so interesting in comics died along with them."
I can actually agree with that.
it would be really great if editors didn't change writers' stories without consulting them
Grandparents dead - please no jokes
make mine DC, thanks
oh dear, jokers gonna hit the parents, isnt he?
I would expect so as it would be the one thing that Joker could use to really hurt Tim, which is the point of the Death of the Family Story in the first place. Joker is hitting all of them where it hurts most after all and an attack on Tim's family, who are presumably safe at the moment, would certainly fit the bill.

Current Top Ten Comics: Earth 2, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Talon, Demon Knights, Transformers: Regeneration One, Young Avengers, Batman Beyond Unlimited, Nightwing, Flash, Aquaman
I'm fully behind this version of Tim. Lobdell hits all the points on why I liked the character a lot back in the day, while cutting the unnecessary stuff. Finally, we can put Identity Crisis, War Games, Yost/Nicieza Red Robin, etc. behind us.

His last name isn't Drake? WTH!
Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, Professor X, Mar-Vell, Richard Rider- Bring Them Back!!!
My ONE gripe with the name change, and I don't know how much this has been talked about, is that JUST earlier this month in Team 7 #0, Black Canary's actual last name had just been revealed to have been "Drake". That alone had me really excited that we would have a nice Tim/Dinah nephew/aunt dynamic in the the new 52. Total opportunity lost and, honestly, considering Lobdell's comment on it being the editor's call, it feels like a miscommunication between editorial. There is no way they would have made a point to change her name like that 'just because'. Otherwise, this issue was really really solid. A perfect example of a well-executed book (regardless of last minute editorial changes) and I loved the Bunker and Skitter cameos at the end.
Aw man, this is exactly what's going to happen. It makes perfect sense with the interview he gave regarding Death of the Family. He made some comments about a change of approach with Jason and Tim after getting brought in on Snyder's plans with the Joker. I'm pro 'Drake' family and this would really disappoint me.
