She always got lip-service as being somewhat a leader of the X-men. The main issue was probably that when it came down to it, the main "sell" at least from the editors, was Cyclops. All the talk is really about Cyclops (and now Jean) when it comes to X-men. In that sense (a marketing sense?) Emma is still second fiddle to Cyclops, Wolvie and Jean.

I think Bendis has some respect for Emma though.

Emma showed up in that scene because they needed a psychic to help Sentry, and they needed the rest of the Marvel Universe there just in case things went bad... cause Sentry was a super-power.

Well that's why I'm actually rather glad there's going to be a new Uncanny X-Men also written by Bendis. Once the opening drama subsides each team can do their thing but the books can be companions to each other under the same writer.

Being a leader is just to play a role in comics, not about the sell. Wolverine is not a leader most of the time, but he's still a character of greater value than almost all others.

And sincerely I do believe Emma now is one of the most well-known female comic characters. She's worthy of being a leader, from the aspect of selling lol

    And this is interesting...

I'm excited about this. I hope he keeps the two books "together" with a lot of crossover, but if he wants them to do their own things then I'm fine with it (I assume he has his reasons).

Well I think that the roles comic characters play inside the universe and their marketability/sales is something where we can't really draw a causal arrow. In the end... I felt like much of AvX, on the X-men, was about Cyclops, same as post AvX will be. The rest of the characters will most likely be along for the ride, to varying amounts.

Wolverine is now a major mutant leader. We will see if Havok takes off in and out of the universe.

The tweet is strange "just thought that one was funny in relation to all the comments on getting about how Scott and Emma are the perfect couple" That scene was probably a decade ago. I think the "perfect couple" argument Bendis is trying to deflate (I assume) is probably subject to much goal post shifting and language qualification. I don't know of anyone who thought they were a morally perfect couple, but from a story-telling stand point, and for each other, I think they were excellent for each other.

In any case, I hope Bendis remembers the Emma fans (seems like he's thinking about us).

I guess he just meant that they were not perfect couple at all to respond those comments too. But who cares whether or not they are perfect… we wanna see interesting, dramatic couples lol

Well Bendis stated we'll be seeing plenty of Emma. Front and center when I asked on his twitter if Emma will be jumping between books.

I think so to to an extent, but you gotta remember the "leader" aspect was more likely due to the fact she was cyke's new women and got the title based on the fact she rebuilt the school. Didn't really change the fact very few accepted her as an X-men which add to her dynamic in it's own sense for Emma growing as a character in the X-men. IMHO in AvX when we saw her had some of them on their knees forcing them to think good thoughts..added to her wanting such "acceptance"

Whether the changes are good or not would be something we'd have to do a "wait and see" on regardless of the author, but I won't say Bendis hasn't changed a lot of character dynamics in his stories.

With her new found state, it'll be interesting enough to see how well she adjusts. I think we'll be in for some interesting stuff indeed with her since Bendis mention what he'll have her start tackling. Now Emma has to climb that hurdle of "acceptance" and "trust" all over again and I'm sure bendis will make it very difficult for her.

At least he knows where Emma's from. I wonder what kind of dialogue we'll see if Cyclops disses the Red Sox.

I wish Fraction got this overreaction from fans when he slaughtered Emma's character.

He did... It started from the point where Emma started sleeping in Jean's wet spot and the vain attempt to adopt Jean's daughter Rachel.

Emma isn't even British so I don't see the complaint if anything she should have a Boston accent

Emma should have an English accent but… I really think those complaints are pointless and should be stopped. She's under Bendis' pen now, her OOC voice is what we've expected before lol. We'd better not give him any reason to troll Emma in his books. And his Emma was actually good before...

    Yeah but "British" is classy.

I don't think there's anything wrong with criticising the dialogue but I don't know why people are upset or surprised by it. Everyone is familiar with Bendis' writing tics. We all saw it coming.

Fretting about Emma losing her TP though, that's overreacting.
