Levitz could have done an issue 0 of any Legionnaire but he picked Brainiac 5. I also notice the inordinate amount of pages devoted to Brainy in the regular Legion series. Hmmm....
From a marketing standpoint it was a weird choice. I doubt that Brainy is the most popular Legionnaire.
After Thom was a member of the JSA while they were DC's 2nd best selling ongoing book under Johns/Eaglesham, it might have been a good idea to give us a Starboy/Dream Girl issue. That platinum blonde on the cover could have sold a few extra issues.
