"Nightwing" #0 might have been more true to itself if it was titled "Robin" #0 or even "Grayson" #0. Dick Grayson's crime-fighting origin is here, but his decision to become Nightwing is not.

Thats what the zero issues are though. Back story. I actually really liked this. They didn't really change anything to the origin we already knew. Just modernized it a bit, and made it work for the new 52. They even kept the time line vague, and drew him looking pretty young.
I figured going in that this was gonna be about his origin as Robin, so i wasn't disappointed that this wasn't about his origin as Nightwing.

Actually in the mini-bio at the end of the comic, it says Dick's parents die when he's 15.
I also liked this issue. It's a nice, modern take on Robin's origin. Plus I like Dick's new original Robin costume.

Ya, he was technically older, but they still drew him looking pretty young. He certainly even came off as still young to me. There are some things they had to do because of the new 52. So while im not thrilled that he was now 15, i appreciated that they didn't really push that and still kept him looking like a kid.

I really liked this issue and I'm glad they didn't push the age thing very much myself. I also liked the more modern take on his origin while still maintaining the core of who Dick is.

They got rid of the pixie boots...this depresses me.
Not bad. I mean, on the long list of Dick Grayson becomes Robin stories, this is no Batman # 1, it's not even in the same stratosphere as Robin: Year One. But Dick seems like a real kid and most of the major notes are unchanged. If you ignore any mentions of dates or times (which we should all be doing anyway), it fits into the scheme of things.

It was a great issue, and I really hope any future Robin origin in the films draws from this.
One of the aspects I liked best was Dick's brief solo vigilante 'career'...to my mind, it really provides a better justification for why Batman chose to bring in a teenage kid into the fold than most other versions before. Bruce knows that Dick would be out there anyway...so he decides instead to place him under his supervision and provide training and guidance.
I had two major disappointments with this issue however. One was that we do not get to see Robin taking down Tony Zucco. The other is that we don't get to see the transition to Nightwing.
Bad excuse, I am 32 ;) - my point is I find it quite silly when people question the believability of a character's actions based on their own experience. We don't know everyone, and we don't know how everyone would act/react, or else fiction would be boring and predictable as f**k.
