I wish they had just pretended the cutting off the face never happened. Regardless, being the massive fan of the character that I am, I can't help but be really excited for this story. Still, hopefully by the end Joker can get his face back on properly.

I still feel the original German Expressionist inspired design is the scariest iteration of the Joker but I can appreciate the constant strive to reinvent the look. I was honestly a little unsure of Capullo at first but he has quickly become my favourite part of the book. I am interested to see Synder's take on the character but I enjoy seeing almost any version to see what is emphasized and what isn't.

Greg Capullo has grown tremendously as an artist over the years. I honestly couldn't stand his work back in the X-Force and Spawn days (at least when he initially took over.) It seems like Todd McFarlane has rubbed off on him over the years and his work has grown in leaps and bounds. His later Spawn work was simply spectacular and his work on Batman so far has been top-notch. Maybe I need to take another look at his art. It could have been the inking and coloring that just didn't work for me in his earlier stuff....

As for this storyline. I love what they've done with Joker. It's definately not playing it safe. Maybe they should do some research on Ed Gein and see how he made human skin last so long. It's scary stuff when you think about it. Eventually the skin will probably deteriorate to the point where it's useless or get ripped in fights with Batman etc. I tell you if you ever watched Autopsy shows by Dr Biden on HBO the human form under the skin looks creepy and alien-like. I could see Joker apply red lipstick for the smiley face, white makeup to his "face" and that would be spooky as hell! Ok now I'm creeping myself out.....lol

I don't care if the picture of the new Joker was leaked. I'm sure this arc will be awesome! can't wait to see what Synder and Capullo have for us. And I don't think that any of the bat family characters will die, as the arc is called death of a family, so I don't have anything to complain about and rant!

What I most like is that Capullo said the story will focus on the Joker's ability to psychologically terrify. No one's better at mind games than the Joker. It's the things he makes you feel and think which are really, truly frightening. I think Scott Snyder understands that in spades, which is why I'm really looking forward to this.

Ha, man that part of the interview where he talks about the face and flies and whatnot, oh boy.

Can't wait, this story sounds nuts. And the whole handyman mechanic motif we see in that one pic is a very cool looking idea.

As for who's idea the Joker's face thing was, has anyone commented on that? I forget, was it Scott's idea? It would seem random for it to be Tony's, since he only just set it up in the first issue and never went back to it. Plus since it's a major change, naturally editorial would have to be in on it and give the okay.

I think the Mcfarlane influence in his early Spawn stuff was just because Todd was inking it, his inks are so distinctive. As much as I love that collaboration i agree, Greg met his match with Danny Miki and with haberlin and Kemp they really hit a stride there that was amazing. On batman Greg's storytelling/pacing/staging are better than ever. It took me a minute to get used to the change Jon and fco bring to his work but I dig it. I would have loved to see Al Williamson ink Greg.
