Gunn must by 14 years old, because this incarnation of the team debuted in 2008.

You liking it wasn't my point.
Serenity, reguardless of what you thought, failed at th ebox office.
Buffy the vampire slayer didn't really scream "great action movie."
Like, i think Scorsese is great, but i don't watch Goodfellas and think "Man, would love to see him do Superman!"
the studios know more about making movies than us, they probably had a reason for choosing Gunn.

James Gunn is a great director. Slither and Super are awesome. Super in particular is a great little satire. And Marvel have done enough to earn the benefit of the doubt when it comes to choosing directors. Gunn obviously has a distinct vision for Guardians of the Galaxy. That's what you need.

He was referring to the series not the movie. The series did very well and even had a spin-off that did well also. Firefly and Dollhouse were really good to, their only flaw being the station they were both aired on.

And despite Serenity failing at the box office it was still a good movie. Why do we have to dismiss this simply because Hollywood didn't market it right?

Anyway Marvel studious has gotten a taste of that Billion dollar mark so they're not about to start going backwards now. So if Gunn plays his cards right, this franchise could be what J.J. Abrams Star Trek is and what Starwars use to be.

Well with the success of Avengers Marvel has a bit of a financial cushion now. They can take more risks with maybe unproven talen like your Taylor's and Gunn's but who have interesting ideas.

Guardians of the Galaxy is not a property I would have ever wanted as a movie. Not the classic Guardians of the Galaxy. Then I saw some of the characters that make up the new Guardians and I thought...man, that is a damned cool line-up. Gamora has been a character I liked from her Warlock & the Infinity Watch days. I thought Drax was frikkin' lame until he was re-incarnated as the badass Riddick-like Drax in Annihilation. I learned to really love Star Lord from the Annihilation Conquest limited series where he and a band of jailbergs went on a mission together. Groot and Rocket Raccoon I honestly don't know much about, but everything about Rocket Raccoon from UMvC3 and the limited series with Star Lord screams FRIKKIN' COOL!

Also, James Gunn is someone I have no clue about, except for his hand in Dawn of the Dead remake, so I can't pass much of a judgment on what he will come up with.

I never wanted a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but I'm sure as hell glad we're going to get one. Knock 'em dead, Gunn!

Still the riskiest MCU movie yet, but it sure seems to be turning into something I'm interested-in-borderline-excited-about!

Keaton always said, "I don't believe in God, but I'm afraid of him." Well I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me are people that think Final Crisis is good.

Gunn's Slither kind of reminds me of the early Peter Jackson movies, and Jackson was also an unproven quantity in the blockbuster arena when hired to do Lord of the Rings. That turned out very well. I'm optimistic about this. I'm hoping some of his zany-horror-flick aesthetic bleeds into Guardians, as well as his preference of practical sfx over CGI.
