You know, on the one hand, its great to see other authors have been inspired by my work and start doing their own versions of stuff. In fact, that's one of the reasons I even started writing my stuff in the first place, was to inspire others to take up the idea and put their own visions into it, and hopefully, a few of them might write something I enjoyed more than my own work.

On the other hand, when they all take my core concept and keep using it for stuff that I specifically despise, it starts to get very, very irksome.

Which is bad, because, I'll occasionally even touch on those subjects briefly just for sheer variety in my own writing, and maybe even sort of as an occasional nod to them, so bringing this up just makes me look like a hypocrite. But rarely do they ever do anything I'm interested in, and usually do stuff I don't want to read. Not that they owe me anything, they don't, but it still kind of feels like I got the backhand of this situation. And then I feel bad, because they wonder if I like their stuff, and I got to come up with an answer that doesn't insult them. I still want to encourage them to follow their own goals in the matter, it just starts getting to a point where I don't really want to be affiliated with any of that stuff.

Guess I kind of shot myself in the foot with this one.

I had one of those once, random Cat in my neighborhood decided he liked me, resulting in dead mice in my Garden for a few months.

I mean, I could have just stopped giving him bowls of milk... But then he'd stop liking me. You see the problem.

I don't think I can really get that specific here, as it involves erotica writing, and specifically taboo subjects that might squick some people out. So, instead, let me give a similar example: It's kind of like when I briefly took an interest in the "giantess" subgenre, and then discovered that around 90% of the giantess fetish community focused on murder and snuff themes.

Better example, its kind of like how anthropomorphic animal characters are being ruined for some people because of the stigma caused by "furry porn."

Well, if there's one person who's good at it, and two that aren't bad, your desire to see other authors do good is at least part way successful.

Actually not very, in fact, its one of the most common and popular of taboo subjects. However, that subject combined with another element that I actually do kind of hate by itself, but can tolerate in small does, combines to create a combo genre that, when that's all these guys want to write about, really starts to curdle my cheese, especially when that's the only combo genre they want to use my sandbox for.

Well, if there's one person who's good at it, and two that aren't bad, your desire to see other authors do good is at least part way successful.

True. And I'm glad at least someone else in some way is making use of it. I admit this gut response is rather selfish on my part. But at the same time, part of me is irritated by the thought that the combination of genres might become joined in the public consciousness. Which I guess I can't help, but... *sigh*

Hrmm... One of my character ideas for the stories I'm unlikely to ever write was a Giantess who gets dragged along with an adventuring party despite being an Artist by trade, and managing to contribute pretty well just from sheer mass difference, slowly picking up actual fighting skills as she goes along.

...Why are all my character ideas so easy to make weird erotica from? I'd have to quit the internet entirely.
