It looks like I'm going to need to do some real work if I want to go out and purchase half the stuff I want to get before the end of the year.
The life of a Jack of Many Trades is more difficult than I first thought.

If there's one thing I learned from Pokemon Emerald and Megaman Battle Network 2, it's that the quickest way to get media attention is to challenge an enthusiastic young reporter for a major network to a duel during a live broadcast.

Fun, but 90% impractical. Usually a couple of cool tricks you can't get any other way though.
"Red Magic" isn't really a category though, more a philosophy on life of trying to become a minmaxing expert in every field. Like how Bards can do a little of everything, only better because Red Mages are actually any use whatsoever outside of a career in entertainment.
Status effects? Situationally handy as a speciality... But it's a heck of a lot easier to find non-combat uses for a Fireball than it is a paralysis spell, and it lacks the versatility of a true focus on utility spells.Though perhaps Green magic is best of all.

I like the idea that Blue Magic represents, namely that you are defined by what you experience. Also, unique tricks that likely don't have (ready) counters is a good thing.
I was actually thinking Time Magic (as that was Green in FF 12 if I remember correctly).

Stealing your opponents skills is always a fun concept.
Haste and Slow fit into 12's Green, but it's pretty much the status effect category.I was actually thinking Time Magic (as that was Green in FF 12 if I remember correctly).
The Red/Time combo from five is of course one of the best combos in the entire series: Doublecast [Quick{Meteor, Meteor}, Quick{Meteor, Meteor}] Especially brutal when targeting a single opponent who is the only valid target for all sixteen hits.
...Though Neo-Exdeath has four damageable components and six randomized zones the meteors might strike, so in that case teaching a Mime Red, Time and Summon so you can use Doublecast [Quick{Bahamut, Bahamut}, Quick{Bahamut, Bahamut}] is vastly more reliable for raw damage.
Burns through MP like a Dickens of course, but splurging an absurdly excessive barrage of raw magical power in one turn is the entire point.

Giant Monsters, makinging them bigger and nastier, and more mana gain than everyoneelse.
Grey in FF5, IIRC. They were just "Time Mages" in Tactics.

“Oh... M-Master, I-I was just... just...”
“You were sparkling!!!” Alucard shouted.
