So, I am now about halfway through 'Sign of the Unicorn,' and enjoying the books a lot.

I had forgotten what a monumental badass Benedict of Amber was.

When trying to figure out who was behind the conspiracy to take the throne, the family unanimously agreed that it couldn't be Benedict because if he had ever wanted the throne then he would have just taken it and nobody in Amber would have been able to stop him. No tricks, no conspiracy, he'd have just up and kicked the shit out of anyone who got in his way.

I might make a thread with him just so I can post the "I fear Benedict," speech Corwin gave to Ganelon.

That would make an awesome movie and it would explain why their aren't any around anymore.

But this was before i found out about things like Leper colonies and such. Which i guess is for the best i would've been unsettled if i thought there was colonies full of werewolves.

Also, it's heavily implied that Benedict, while he doesn't play the tricks/politics game like his sibilings, is far more experienced and conversant with it.

Though he does get the wool pulled over his eyes once in the series, it's by someone who basically screws around with the entire family; any attempt by his siblings to mess with his head or obfuscate the situation would probably result in Benedict simply seeing through it and, well...with predictable results.

Yep, and there are darned few people Corwin fears.

There are darned few people Corwin respects, as well.

Benedict is possibly the only one in the entire series that falls into both catagories.

The problem is, while Corwin gushes about it a lot, we have very few feats where Benedict actually DOES anything 'on camera' so to speak.

Lycanthrope colonies are not a joking matter! Their living conditions are well below the norm and they are desperately in need of basic necessities!

We should all take out some time and help them.
