    Default The Shadow, #5

Kondo's trap succeeds beyond his expectations, as a bloody massacre leaves our heroes alone in the wilderness without hope of rescue. Looking for to this. The Shadow has been one of my favorite books this year. Really excited to see how this first arc wraps up and what the new writer has in store for the next one.

Good first arc! Very nice issue, much more action heavy and more Shadow-centric, though there's a surprising amount of Kondo and company. But after a lull in the Shadow action, we get a heavy dose of him here, with much of his action handled appropriately off-screen, which gets across just how he must appear to onlookers.

The reveal of just what everyone's after isn't all that surprising, though it is never IIRC mentioned by name---it should be obvious to anyone these days what it is. But how the Shadow handled it was fun and keeping with his character.

Again, good issue, much better than most of what the Big Two are doing. But then it seems to me that the indies are where the real comic book action is these days.

The Shadow is one of a group of new Independant books that have really gotten me away from reading the big 2. The writing has been great and this is such a good book!

Read of the week. The story really fell into place this issue, and the art was fantastic. A couple of the pages had a marriage of text and panel layout that was amazing.

    Really, really enjoyed this.

I have to say, what the Shadow does to Wong was brutal. The Punisher would approve...

This is a truly scary Shadow.
