I downloaded the first 'Arrow' prequel issue which takes place apparently after the pilot episode of the show and it was alright. It wasn't good but it wasn't bad either. I think it has potential and that as more issues release it will get better. BTW, I found the comic under the 'free' section of the DC Comics app.

Great to see Mike Grell drawing Ollie again (even just for 1 issue.) I think this is a good idea and the best comic book news I've heard all week.

Looking forward to it and the show.

If the "Longbow Hunters" is an influence on this, it's definitely a "must see" for me. Mike Grell is my favorite creator of all time.

Awesome news, and I'm thrilled Mike Grell gets to do the first issue. I hope he continues doing covers for the rest.

Guggenheim and Kreisberg don't have the best track record as far as comic books go, but the free prequel issue was good, so I hope they can keep up that quality. And I really hope that issue is included in the print editions, it's impossible for me to get the Comic-Con issue and digital is not enough for me.

The only real reaction I have is I would have waited till ratings were in on the first few episodes before going full tilt into this.

But I'm sure on CW, the ratings it does get will no doubt sustain it for a couple of seasons anyway. I know I'll be watching. And pre-ordering the print edition.

Seriously though, why do these guys keep getting work? They must have family at WB or something, my gods.

Kriesberg wrote terrible Green Arrow issues, but at least he's written some decent television. Guggenheim, Berlanti, etc. wrote No Ordinary Family, and only they could screw up such a nice premise.

I'm trying to stay hopeful with the show and I did like the Arrow preview comic. I suppose my non-history with the writers and liking what I've seen will make this a GA comic I'll look forward to reading again.

While I'm happy that there are to be print versions offered...I don't understand why it's not simultanious. I don't care if it it's a pamphlet sized five page deal. I loathe reading comics on a screen (tablet, laptop or monitor). It doesn't matter how good the book is, the format kills it for me.

Why do they insist on this digital crap? I'm unable to read/comment on threads about the book because I'm inevitably four weeks behind. Grrr! :p

and yet their free Arrow comic was still better than the New 52 GA book.
