This news story has been really frusterating because it completely spoils the storyline for a comic book that hadn't even been released yet.

Yeah.....because the WHOLE story has been detailed from these few little news stories. Aside from the details about HOW the story came about in the planning stages, we haven't really found out ANYTHING SUBSTANTIAL in the news items. Pretty much everything that's been "told" explains Diamond's "leak" of Billy in the August Previews (Georges Jeanty's variant cover shows a young man fighting some zompires).
