what saddens me more than the end of the series is that a 6 year old comic is considered "long-running"
strange, the IDW solicitations calls the latest Battlefields series the last one....but ennis seems to indicate at least two more. Unless this six-part series solicited for November actually features all those characters and stories.
Definitely curious about what this Avatar war project is, particularly if it really does turn into a long-term project. Would love to see Ennis sink his teeth into a long-term, ongoing war series. It'd be long past due.
...I'll be honest though, I'm kinda bummed that it's with Avatar. Would rather if he jumped on board with a bigger, more reliable publisher, namely Image. Maybe IDW or even Boom!.
Time for me to start collecting The Boys.... :)You think guys Dynamite will collect The Boys in a OHC Edition aside the definitives? The only comic i didn't care yet is his war stories...Is it a decent read?
Kinda dissapointed that he has no current plans for another long-term project. Tbh i usually find his bigger projects to be of a higher quality than his minis or limited series.
Heard good things about Battlefields though. Ill have to check that out.
There was an interview with Ennis last year in which he said the Avatar war book was "pretty much following the model of Battlefields".
I agree, if only for the fact that I'm not a big fan of the artists he tends to work with at Avatar.
He considers War Stories, particularly Nightingale with David Lloyd, among his best work.
EAT GLASS, LAWMAN!
Ennis did some of the best work of his career at DC, but ultimately, he is indeed better off without them now. You gotta do what you gotta do.
"'Kirby got a shitty contract too, so get over it' isn't a great tagline."

War Stories Vol 1 + 2 are some of the favorite books. I always look forward to reading new stuff from him.
