I would get this, if it weren't for Greg Lands "art."

Every time Gillen gives an interview I get more and more excited about this.
Cannot wait, despite Land's (shite) artwork.

""Reed Richards is a more of theorist than Tony. He explores the hows and whys and Tony is a guy who makes stuff. He's a technologist. So in our first issue he's exploring questions in a way that he's not really used to," Gillen explained. "He's one of comics' great inventors. He wants to understand a problem so he can make a proper solution. His interest in theory is kind of a means to an end. It's something he needs to understand so he can move forward and do what he wants to do.""
This is such an important point, and one that I think is often lost on people.
Geniuses aren't just geniuses, they aren't interchangeable. They have nuance.
Reed Richards and Ray Palmer are explorers, they discover natural laws and new forms of science for the sheer thrill of discovery.
For Hank Pym and Will Magnus, creation is a compulsion, genius a mental disorder.
For guys like Lex Luthor, Tony Stark, and John Henry Irons (Who I think represent different moral points on the same intellectual line, a line that moves from purely selfish to purely altruistic) science and technology is a means to an end; they're more interested in social engineering, changing the way we live, than they are in the science itself.

Sounds intriguing. I'm interested to see where Gillen goes with Tony applying an engineer's eye to the MU's less rational side. I wonder if that opens the door for a Dr. Doom appearance, somewhere down the line?
Also, I like that he's bringing back the specialist armors. That's always a fun feature.
I'm not particularly a fan, but it does sound like this will play to his strengths (or at least minimize his weaknesses).

Can't wait for this. It sounds like Gillen has some amazing plans for the book and a great handle on Tony's character. And as much as some people complain about Land, I think his style is ideally suited to the glamorous world that Tony inhabits.
I'm definitelly going to be getting this. I've always loved the Iron Man character, so I can't wait to see what Gillen does. Still not happy about Land on art, but oh well.
I understand Gillen said he will be distancing himself from friends, but I hope Splitlip is not brushed to the side. I think hes a great addition to Tony's supporting cast.
I will be getting this in trade, rather then monthly (as I am Fraction's run, but lets not talk about how far behind I am!) but I have to say I am liking what Gillen has to say and I love the idea of Tony being something of a Knight Errant (something which John Francis Moore touched on to brilliant, if literal, effect!). I'm definitely looking forward to reading this in TPB!
Cheers.
James.
Any Dream worth Having Is A Dream worth Fighting For.
The pitch isn't very enticing. I think technological thriller is better than I'm a superhero, a knight in armor, which is childish and outdated. I hope this is just pep talk and not the actual identity of the book.
I don't mind the artist: at times Gillen had a shitty artist on JIM and it was still the best Marvel comic book. Land looks better than that.
I keep on telling myself that I don't want to read an Ironman book with Land on art. However I know I will end up checking it out for Gillen.
Marvel Now is confusing I will be dropping Fantastic Four and FF and getting Hulk and Ironman![]()
Say what you will about Land, the cover art seems to suggest that Tony will have a legitimate beard rather than that douchey goatee. This alone will make for a vast improvement in how Stark has been portrayed.
