He only benefited from the Patriots system and nothing else.

KC should have actually went into the draft and tried to get a QB. They were in a good position and should have traded picks to get one. With a weaker QB class next year I don't know how things will go. The main QBs are Barkley and Geno Smith right now.

    Isn't Landry Jones going too?

Which makes me curious, do scouts/coaches/whatever other personnel is involved not understand this when considering a back up with a handful of games under their belt to be their starter. I'm still not sure why Seattle paid Matt Flynn.

Because at times it can pay off for a team. Its a 50/50 deal when a backup who has watched for awhile suddenly gets acquired by a new team and becomes the starter. To look back on it some.

Brett Farve - Sit on Atlanta's bench for a season and was considered a bust as a 2nd rd pick by them. Ron Wolf who drafted Farve decided he was worth trading for....the rest is history.

Matt Schaub - Sit behind Michael Vick for 3-4 seasons. The Texans in 2007 traded for Schaub and handed him a $48+ million dollar deal. People laughed at the Texans , but as QB has turned team into playoff contender.

Drew Brees - Ok this one is a bit of a stretch to list here. But hear me out.... Brees himself had a rocky early career and only became a better starting QB once Shottenheimer arrived in San Diego. The final season Brees suffered a horrible shoulder injury and teams like Miami passed on him due to that. The Saints took a gamble on Brees due to what he did for a season and it paid off.

Ryan Fritzpatrick - Started a few games for the Rams , then 2-3 seasons later did the same for the Bengals. Became the Bills starting QB under Chan Gailey . Its debated if he will ever get more better than average starting QB.

That is some in the recent 20 year history of QB's who have been traded for or signed in FA by teams.

Sitting here watching Mike and Mike on ESPN2 and they're currently talking about "If you believe your team's season is over, how do you feel?" Thinking about it, maybe I've been wallowing in self-pity. I mean, is my team really worse than the Chiefs, Jaguars, or Raiders? Hell, I'm not sure that the Bills are even worse than the Jets.

so it looks like not only is Big Bens shoulder hurt, but he also has a rib injury close to the heart, so he is out indefinitely

We were overdue for the Big Ben major injury and subsequent Steelers falling apart.

I live in an area with a lot of Steelers fans, and this is basically how the conversation goes:
Them: "Leftwich! Why don't they start Charlie Batch!"
Me: "If he takes a hit the Smithsonian loses a precious fossil."
Them: "Leftwich sucks! Start Dennis Dixon!"
Me: "I don't think he's even on their roster."
    Them: "Well..uhm..."

Of course they'll all cheer when Ben does his "I'm tough as nails and I'm gonna play routine" and then he can end up a cripple on the field and the fans will all slam some Iron City down their gullets and talk for the next 5 decades about how they had the toughest QB of all time when everyone else just considers him a moron for walking onto the field.
Sorry about that, I just need to get that out sometimes guys. Steelers fans make me shudder.

I thought it was cool that the Rams and 49ers played to a 24-24 tie.
I rather have a tie then a lost.

Here is a list of Ties that happen since 1974.

Not a great game, hell not even a really good game, but a win's a win and I'll take it.
