Damn, such a shame to see the series end here. Look forward to seeing how it all plays out though, and the art is awesome as per. Interacting with Faerber on twitter, he has indicated that this isn't necessarily the end of Markham, if he can find another viable way of putting the book out ie. digitally, kickstarter and so on, so if anyone wants to see more Near Death, hit him up on twitter and show him there's desire and support for the book. I'll also say that this is a book I originally skipped up until around issue 4. I wasn't sure I would dig the procedural nature of the book (case of the week style) but it turned out to be a big mistake and I haven't looked back since I jumped on. The first trade is cheap as chips so for anyone who was deterred, its not a big $ sacrifice to check out and see if it's up your alley.

This was quite the interesting way to go out. This was more an end of an arc as opposed to an end of a series which is fitting actually. I very much enjoyed this three-parter season finale and it was quite interesting seeing the roles reversed with Markham & Knox throughout the 3 issues and it hit home very much so with this issue as to how far they have changed since Markham's failed hit on Knox that resulted in his near death experience before and on issue 1 and I enjoyed the ending. If their was a downside, it was the fact that we never got to see Naseer in these last 3 issues at all and he simply vanished after issue 8. He was quite the interesting character with a background that can more relate to Markham while also fitting into the role that Sutton had in the first arc.

All in all, I'm gonna miss this series. I think a viable way to continue would have been to take the road that Witch Doctor, Jake Ellis, and Luther Strode have taken and thats come in do a mini and then come back later to continue the next part. Keeping it as an ongoing was going to be tough and as I was reading this second arc I had the feeling this was heading to cancellation for some reason and its unfortunate that that came to pass. I must also mention that these backups in this second arc have been very good and a nice look into the different takes in the genre so a big thanks to all those writers and artists that provided those stories and making Near Death have a little extra something on top of its great story.

It's a pretty open ended ending that could easily be continued. I hope he's able to continue with mini's.

The murder book stories at the end were cool too.
