Er... Is it Appa Ali Apsa? I don't remember other beings that existed close to the beginning of time.

It could also be a time-displaced Kyle post-mastering of the emotional spectrum (which is part of this whole story arc incidentally). That could lead to new insight as to why Ganthet specifically chose Kyle to begin with.
Don't know if it could be Appa, the First Lantern looks especially human/humanoid and kept in the shadows as if hidden because the reader would recognize him.
It could be anyone at this point, though...Superboy Prime from pre-DCnU, the Starheart, Lord Malvolio, the original Alan Scott, Abin Sur...
Why does idelson still work for DC? Is this a business or a charity?
Grandparents dead - please no jokes
make mine DC, thanks
My guess is that 'The First Lantern' is DC's God; The Voice, The Presence, The Source.
We had a hint that he was out of the picture when Phantom Stranger said that Spectre could have been sent by the Circle of Eternity.
If the Guardians trapped him while he was in some kind of lesser state, like the movie "Dogma", then it could explain things.
A former guardian makes sense. They weren't small back in the day.
I don't want to derail the thread to badly (I didn't think this needed a whole thread and relates somewhat) but does anyone get the feeling this will end with the Guardians being killed or ousted leading to the Legion of Three Worlds set up with Sodam Yat being the last guardian?
It may not be a case of "who" the first Lantern is, so much as what. He could turn out to be some specific race who showing up has some impact, like perhaps another Martian?
"Batman is this force that appears out of nowhere behind a guy or all the sudden comes through the window like a man-sized brick and the note attached is a serious ass-whooping"
Could the First Lantern be the new Question (of the Trinity of Sin)? In the teaser image, he's faceless--probably just because his face is in shadow, but who knows? And eh's said to be someone who has been punished for a very long time, which also seems to be true of the Question. And Geoff is involved with both this and Trinity War....
As long as he's not human, I'm happyWould be very cheesy if it turns out the First Lantern was a human being. I do wonder though when he got recruited. Krona was the first person to mention him and Krona was said to be one of the first enforcers for the Guardians. He also said that the Guardians betrayed the First Lantern. So, should be interesting to see how this fleshes out early Oan history.
I am Apocalypse! Look upon the future and tremble!
I am as far beyond Mutants as they are beyond you. I am eternal.
Evil? I am not malevolent, I simply am!
I assumed he was a Guardian, but now I'm not so sure. His form is humanoid, though most of the races in the DC universe are.
Hmmm....
Who knows. I don't want him to be human, but him being a Guardian wouldn't be a shocker at all.
I highly doubt that it is Rayner...
