Wow that's sad news, it is a one of a kind MMO. I still have my box from back in the day. :(

Not so much these days. Champions Online is pretty effectively similar.

Frankly, the most fun I had with either was the character customization, which is kind of a bad sign when getting into an MMO.

This made me very sad. I've played this on and off from 2004 to the present. It was the MMO I always went back to.

CoH has been a great fun for the past 4+ years. Great on-line community and a (til now) never ending stream of quality content that I shall miss. Champions online and DCUniverse do no even come close.

Nitpick: Cryptic didn't change their name to Paragon. Cryptic are still alive (and I presume well enough) - Paragon is a rename of an NCsoft studio (NCsoft NorCal) that became the development studio for the title once NCsoft acquired them. I would think they had a number of Cryptic's staff transfer with the property, but Paragon never were Cryptic (if that makes sense).

I played this throughout most of high school and it was a lot of fun because of the character customization and the friendliness of the people on the game. My friend and I would play every night and meet up with people in order to adventure through the game. After we stopped playing during our senior year of high school and college, we attempted to go on again but the game seemed to be all about powerleveling. No one really talked to each other and there was no more adventure.

I just discovered it a few weeks ago. It has become my favorite game. I was looking forward to ages and ages of wonderful fun stuff. :(

Oh, and I've now found no other super-hero MMO that plays on the Mac. Yay. :(

I never got super into City of Heroes, too much sameness, but i will remember it for being the first mmo that let me fly.

Companies never say the real reason though, mmos end because they stop making money. There's 2 brighter, shinier f2p superhero mmo out, i'd imagine it cut in.

How is it daft? Its one more nail in the coffin. People left with Champions. People left with DCUO. People will be leaving with Marvel Heroes.
