I thought Casino Royale was a proper 10/10 film. Every scene was perfect, and way, way, WAY much better than I expected it to be. I never really held the Bond franchise in much high regard, they were alright, but I was never really into them. But Casino Royale came across as an entirely different beast. It's level of quality really made an impact on me. And I thought one the main reasons it was so good was because of its poker scene. Watching that film I thought, this is BOND. This is incredible. This is something I can really admire.
I don't know if the Daniel Craig films have much relation to the previous Bond films but it feels like they're done by an entirely different creative team. However, I haven't even gotten round to seeing the second one yet and I've only seen the fist twenty minutes of it. I'm going to wait until the trilogy comes out and then purchase that and watch them all together. I've got a question to ask: Do the three films all follow the same storyline? Casino Royale ended on a bit of a cliffhanger.
Jer. Some things you may have missed since you were last here.
- A large portion of us are still holding out for Ultimate Wolverine's return, regardless of how doubtful it may be.
- We have a 'Comparing The Ultimate X-Men' thread now as well as the 'Comparing The Ultimates' thread.
- Drz continues to make DC Comics the most talked about topic on this thread. I'm not complaining.
- The general consensus is that Humphries has destroyed the awesomeness that was Hickman's previous run, and is ruining what was once the UU's most promising book.
- Pretty much everyone here who's read the DC Earth One books, like them and think it's a good line. Which is true.
- Plawsky's thinking of trade waiting the Ultimate line.
- The Ultimate Fan Art Thread is awesome.

Robbie have you watched Battlestar Galactica?
Seriously for a TV show the cgi is off the charts even better then the Previous bsg episodes. I can't wait for when they use this kind of cgi for stuff like Star Wars live action series.

Not really. I kicked one person out of class for trying to have side conversations during class and while she was trying to take a test.
And another person, who is not technically giving me trouble but I can tell likes to send his 'mind out into space' right before he comes to class.
.... and If that's his natural state, God help him.
Any scientist who isn't willing to kill for science isn't really a scientist at all.
So I just looked at the "variant" covers for justice league of america #1. All they do is replace the American Flag with the state flag. I'm very dissapointed in this.
1) Find a bad guy
2) Be Wolverine
Ultimate Wolverine is coming back, sort of!
Yeah... I was expecting it to be just a flag change, but I thought it would be on this image:
It would have been cool to see a Texas or Tennessee flag tattered in the background of that image. I also thought that each flag would be redrawn, not poorly photoshopped. Marvel might abuse the variants more than DC, but at least they don't look this terrible. At least the color change covers for Uncanny Avengers looks natural.
Also, even without the bad photoshopping, it's not a great cover image. Why is half the team standing way in the background?

Forget Marvel and DC, there is only one winner in comic book salesOctober Top 10s), and that is:
The Walking Dead
-With #103, it's still in the top 10, showing that it can hold on to big numbers in the wake of its cover gimmick for #100. The only books that beat it are Marvel's big event and #1s and DC's top titles (Batman, JL, and GL, obviously).
-More than five years after their release, the first and second TPB are still breaking the top 5, crushing anything else that comes out. Only Superman Earth One v2 was able to beat the four Image titles that made it into the top 5.
-Even more surprising is that the #3 TPB is the Walking Dead Compendium. That's a $60 book!!
Image is really stepping it up, and I love it. It's also good to know that Saga is out in TPB now, because I still need to check that out.
As for the big 2, Marvel's Uncanny Avengers manages to put them back in a commanding lead for market and dollar share, but DC's ongoings continue to dominate the top of the charts. I'll be curious to see what the rest of the list, as well as the sales estimates, looks like. But as frustrating as it may be for many readers, there's no denying that Avengers vs X-Men worked. Every issue (save #12, due to Uncanny Avengers) was at the top of the charts, AvX VS stayed in the top 10 for all six issues, and two epilogue series place their first issues in the top 10. Not half bad. Now let's see how they can sustain it.

I've been waiting a long time for this.
These were brilliant!! I've saved them to my favourites.
I've never watched Battlestar Galactica, except for some of the old ones when I was younger. But I'd quite like to continue watching this.
If you post more, I'll watch more. Can't wait til next week for Episode 3!
I'm surprised by how short the episodes are. Short and sweet. Are they internet only or are they on television too?

Trust me Battlestar Galactica the 2004 series is one of the best tv shows in history. And I don't say that kind of stuff in jest. Like if you haven't seen Battlestar Galactica it should be one of the things to watch before you die.
First you have to watch the 2004 miniseries and then all 4 seasons. Trust me you will love it. I know that you are quite philosophical and this show will give you all sorts of questions.

This new series is coming out every friday on the internet first then in december they will start combining it to put on the tv and then later there will be a collection.
Here Robbie is the best intro to anything. When I first watched it. It blew my mind. I hope it does the same if you watch it.
Some gaming news if anybody's interested.
The Last Guardian still in development hell.. :(
GTA V bigger than Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV and San Andreas COMBINED.Asked if he could confirm a release in 2013, worldwide studios boss Shuhei Yoshida told French site Jeux Video "No, sorry, I cannot say that ... Because the last time we talked about a date for The Last Guardian, we finally disappointed many people."
Yoshida added that he can say "the team is working hard on the project, including the engine.
"It is precisely because [of] the teams working on the technical aspect of the game that we have nothing concrete to show you today," he added. "So now I'm waiting for the right time to introduce you to The Last Guardian and speak with confidence of a release date."

BOOOOOOOO
Halo 3 was more important to me than eating when I was in college. But - I suppose - it's not everyone's thing. And you're right, it looks incredible. The multiplayer will never be as good as it was for Halo 3, but no matter the flaws, I can't help but be amazed by what I'm looking at.

Looks pretty good, but I'm sort of getting a little bored of traditional space sci-fi tbh. I really liked those two episodes you posted though and I will continue wathcing them. It just appealed to me. Have you seen Starship Troopers? It sort of reminded me of that, which is excellent.
One question that does spring to mind is, 'Do the Cylons have emotions?' If so, why give the robots emotions that lead to desires and an agenda? Why give it independent thought? Or are they being controlled by something else? That woman in the second episode said she had worked on their design. I wonder what motive her previous company had, and why the robots started attacking humans.
I scan-read the articles you posted. There are thesitic elements? It says there are deities that may play a role in the action of the Cylons. I wonder what they're intentions are?
I'm not really all that phillisophical per say. I'd say MrV was, and he liked talking to me about that sort of stuff. I don't know.. I just ask a lot of questions. Lol. I'm pretty interested in heightening my understanding in all things really. If I don't understand something, I'll usually ask a question.
I am really into the study of theism though. It's interesting to me.. the machines advocating theistic values. I'm really curious about it. Personally, I think Polytheism (the belief in an ecological structure of multiple gods) is a much more interesting and (dare I say it) accurate acknowledgement of bias, theistic values than Monotheism (the belief in one absolute god). From this, I also love Greek Mythology, and the reasoning behind the depiction of those gods.
Speaking of which, there's a new God of War: Ascension game trailer out that I haven't seen yet. I love God of War.
