Default ABC Greenlights Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV Series

When Joss Whedon signed on to direct "The Avengers 2," his contract also called for him to develop a Marvel-themed television series. We now know that show is "S.H.I.E.L.D." for ABC.

Can't wait! I feel like this is an awesome idea for a show. Especially with Joss!

Marvel TV's first live-action project makes this have a lot of presure to be a success. I won't be getting my hopes up.

I'm hoping for the best! Really hope they bring some smaller, lesser know heroes to the forefront.

I think Disney should just scrap the planned Mockingbird TV show for ABC Family and just bring her here.

If they do the thing where they pretend they live in a world super heroes don't exsist to save money, this will fail.

This show can be very, very cool. I hope it is. I admit, I was hoping the show would be the Runaways.

Yes. Yes it is. Some much potential to just pick and choose and bake up an awesome potential pie. . .

Exciting. Wondering who the main cast will be. Hoping for at least Maria Hill from the movie universe to give some solid tie.

Seems like the 'safest' of the many suggested options, but I'm definitely going to watch. Would love to see the show introduce some of the other players in the marvel-verse (Mockingbird, Spider-woman, etc.)

If it's in the movie-verse, I don't see how it will work that well without the three most interesting and popular SHIELD people...beyond maybe sporadic appearances, there's no way they're getting Jackson, Johannson, or Renner on a regular TV series. Even Cobie Smoulders still has a gig.

A separate SHIELD-verse for the show...well without the superheroes how is it not just another spy show? They can't even do a helicarrier justice on a TV budget, compared to what we saw in Avengers.

I still say the smartest play for Marvel is to just wait for DD to expire and develop a show on that. Or do Heroes for Hire.

I really dont understand why people cant see certain actors in this being willing to make guest appearances. Bruce Willis did a spot on Friends years ago. Jackson loves his Fury character. He'll make cameos if they want him too. HIMYM is coming to a end here in likely another season. Cobie's got the job if she wants it, its going to likely take a year or so of development before there is even a chance of seeing the SHIELD show on the network and thats a rush job.
