I don't think I've ever seen Slott that excited. This is going to be good.
If they take him off Spider-Man, it better be because he's writing Dr. Who episodes.
Hey Slott! Did you call Kenny Loggins? Cause you're entering the DANJA ZOOOOOOONE!!!
Well, considering how Dan Slott is talking about how Alpha has "his own world and his own cast," it sounds like he's sticking around for the foreseeable future.
If anyone is going to die, it's going to be Doc Ock and I think the thing which will "elicit strong emotions from Spidey fans" is that Spidey is going to deliberately kill him. After all, the ingredients for it are pretty much set-up already. Spidey has become disillusioned with his failing to save Silver Sable to the point where he's flirting with the idea of killing his villains (as seen in "No Turning Back"), and Doc Ock has only hours to live, knows Spidey's identity and previously stated during "Ends of the Earth" he wants to go out in a fight to the death between himself and his long-time arch-enemy. All it would take is for Doc Ock to force Spidey's hand by threatening to kill Spidey's loved ones in such a way that the only way to stop him is for Spidey to take his life.

Every time an author says he will shock the readers it makes me more worried than excited. I'd prefer 700th issue to have just an interesting story, like Danger Zone appears to be, and not some groundbreaking, game changing and fans' raging event. But then again it may really be great. We will see.
This is the last big storyline of the entire "Big Time" run. We are taking no prisoners. It starts with issue #698. You've seen hints, glimmers and set-up and all kinds of clues leading up to it since the end of "Ends of the Earth" -- no, wait, "Spider-Island" -- no, wait, "Amazing Spider-Man" #600, and when we get to #698, everything is going to explode.
I'm telling you all, New York City is going to blow up and eliminate a huge chunk of characters!
I really wish Ramos didn't have to illustrate EVERY "big"story that comes down the pipeline. And this doesn't seem to be amongst his best work, either.
As far as Peter's fate goes, the only thing bigger than killing him off (which really isn't a big deal anymore in comics) is to permanantly cripple him in some way. Make him lose a limb or go blind or something, as that also affects his civilian persona.
Slott has really hyped this issue to the moon and beyond, so I hope he doesn't disappoint. I'm back on board through #700 thanks to the return of Roderick.
I love Ramos' art more than any other Spider-Man artist. But I would not be surprised if Mary and Peter get back together or Peter kills Doc Oct. Either way I'm looking forward to the next set of issues.
