He's a great actor, very interested in seeing how they pull this off.
I had no qualms with multicultural Asgard but multicultural elves seems weird.
When I look at the guy they cast as Malekith I can easily see how he can be made to look like an elf.
Look a Adebesi here and I just don't see how he'll be made into an elf, unless they use heavy prostetics and makeup like they did for the Frost Giants I suppose.

MMMMH! Wasn't Algrim betrayed by Malkeith and left for dead and then a certain cosmic entity (The Beyonder) raised him from the dead and renamed him Kurse who was twice as strong as Thor. Beyonder sent him to Earth to destroy Thor only for Beta Ray Bill to be mistaken for Thor. Gets me wondering how each film course will lead into Whedon's vision for Av2. Will the Beyonder play a role? Are we headed to a version of the Secret Wars and will this be the connection to GotG (outside of the obvious Thanos)?

I liked Adewale on LOST. But he created headaches for them because he "hated living in Hawaii". He was written out of the series. I lived there too. I just wish I knew if he was genuinely homesick or acting like a prima donna.

Dude, let's focus on what's really important here - KURSE is gonna be in Thor 2!!!!!!
When I was a kid, he was hands down my favorite looking hero/villain around, and I would draw him (and Balder, too) all the time. Go, Walt Simonson, go!
I so hope they don't 'generic-up' his outfit, and try to stick to something as bad@$$ as the initial design. Screw the "it needs to look realistic" thing - this is fantasy in another realm, just go crazy with it!

Rimmer, I trust Marvel is past the point of concerning themselves with too much hardcore realism now that they've greenlit a GotG movie. They did a great job using the Destroyers look so I'm thinking they'll make his costume as loud and badass as the original concept.

Rumor has it David Hasselhoff will appear as the Beyonder.

The reports I've always heard was more along the lines of him being a pain in the ass due to his mannerisms. Adewale is a method actor and allegedly had trouble dropping character between takes. From what I've read, this grated on a lot of his co-stars which led to his eventual dismissal from the show.

Terry O'Quinn reportedly was similar, but he was pretty essential to the show.

Man, I don't know Kurse's character at all but this guy was terrifying as Simon Adebisi. As Adebisi, he was the master of upredictable and barely restrained violence.

There were multiple reasons why he was written off Lost. Being difficult on set was certainly rumored, but bottom line is that he didn't have a long-term contract and he simply decided not to renew it (Primarily due to both of his parents having passed away while he was in Hawaii and wanting to return home).

Great actor though, and I'm really excited about this role.

I've heard numerous and conflicting theories regarding his departure. Seems to depend on whether the speaker is intent on blaming him or commiserating with his decision. Overall, was a shame, too bad he couldn't come back for the finale, but such is life.

And agreed on him being a great actor. The only other thing I've seen him in was an episode of Monk, and he played a completely different character. Very upbeat, very cheerful, very not Eko. Still did an excellent job. Hope a spot on Thor allows him to branch out into more mainstream pictures. Not that I necessarily want him in summer blockbusters and nothing ELSE, but, y'know.

My guess: If they want to more set up Avengers 2, then it will be Thanos who is behind the creation of Kurse.
If they want to set up Thor 3, it will be Surtur.

My only hope is that Thor doesn't deal with Kurse as casually/easily as he did the Destroyer. The best Thor stories are always the ones where he gets beaten within an inch of his life along the way.

My only disappointment is that this casting would seem to make the inclusion of Skurge unlikely.
