Issue #12 is when WONDER WOMAN went from being a very good comic book to being a GREAT comic book. Cannot wait to see Orion and everything else that's in store for year two.
Why even bother interviewing Azz, really? Not only does he refuse to answer any questions, he mocks you while doing it.
Granted I thought it was hilarious, but I would hate to be that writer...
Yeah, I've seen video interviews with the guy. Wow, talk about eccentric. A fantastic writer though.
"The Victory is in the Preparation." - Damian Wayne/Batman My Blog
one of the VERY few books that I am getting from DCnU
Who's there?
I thought he was more than usually forthcoming. He seems to have confirmed that
1. The first two panels on the last page of Wonder Woman 12 (the guy breaking out of the ice) occur at a different place from the last two panels (someone putting on Orion's helmet). I also thought it was mildly interesting that he wouldn't confirm that the guy in Orion's helmet was Orion. (I still think that it probably was, but maybe someone in the past defeated Orion, stole his helmet and buried him under the ice, and is coming to finish Orion off now that he knows he's made it back to the surface. )
2. Diana first came to Man's World when she was 18, and Wonder Woman is taking place in the current year in the DCnU. (Some people thought the current Wonder Woman might be taking place a year or two before the present day. I still think it's clearly taking place before JLA, though Azz may not have even thought about that.)
3. Hera's "journey" will be "touched on" next year (thought that was kind of obvious).
4. The "uncuffing" was planned from the beginning of the series. (There has been some doubt about that around here.) Also, it was inspired by Silver Age stuff (i.e., the berserker rage).
5. He's still keeping Wonder Woman out of other books. (I was surprised that the interviewer, who I thought did a great job, didn't as why he made an exception for Batwoman.)
I also think he more or less implied that Hermes is only "apparently" betraying Zola and Wonder Woman (or at least that Hermes doesn't necessarily see it as a betrayal).
I found it odd that he said "Is she immortal? No, she's 23." Is she not immortal?
What he said about her unerring self-confidence was nice. I especially like that he's portraying her as self-confident but not overconfident; she even tells ZOla in #5 that she's not perfect.
LOL at "If that means people will buy it, then yes, it's a superhero book."

Each interview gets me more excited! I cannot wait for future issues.
Nanny: The True Phoenix Egg
Interesting, if vague, interview, but what do you expect when half the questions are "What's gonna happen in the book?"
As for Wonder Woman itself, it's easily the best of the New52. In fact, it's probably the only one that I'd call really good. Batman and Green Lantern are just ok, but Wonder Woman is the only great book in the entire line.
The longer Azzarello is allowed to do whatever he wants, the better off the book'll be.
And Chiang's fantastic, too. A great fit for the character.
I really disliked a lot of stories about the new gods in the past. I hope he brings a new vibe to this. The only New Gods stories I've liked have pretty much involved Darkseid bing a villain in superman or an event. Just an area of the DC that hasn't clicked with me
Hoping he brings a new take to these guys, and hoping superman doesn't show up
