Greg Rucka and Michael Lark spoke with CBR News on "Lazarus," their upcoming Image Comics series exploring the concept of nature versus nurture in a near-future world crippled by economic inequality.

This is the one Image Comic announced at SDCC that I am most excited about. I love Rucka's writing and I love Lark's artwork. Plus, the concept has stylistic echoes of Philip K. Dick's best stories. I'm also thrilled it's an ongoing book and not a mini-series. Everything Greg and Michael describe here sounds like it has the potential to one day be as big culturally as The Walking Dead.

Lazarus is definitely a book that is something I want to be in on the ground floor with from Day One. Can't wait for an official release date! This sounds incredible.

One of those times you can positively say who cares what it's about? It's Greg Rucka with Michael Lark, and it's their own universe. I'm in no matter what it's about, those guys prove themselves a long time ago in my mind.
Reading this week: The Unwritten: On to Genesis, Hellblazer: Scab, Mountaingirl collection

    QFT.

Going in my pull-list right away.

This may more than make up for Marvel cancelling The Punisher. I hadn't enjoyed Punisher (in the main MU) since Steve Grant wrote him.

ps - been super-busy and will send a PM at some point, honest ;)

It would go on my pull list.

But, I decided ages ago to stop buying new comics as soon as "The Boys" finished. After that I'm going to just buy old comics and trades of completed runs.... just a couple of long runs a year to read in winter months. So no doubt will be buying this in a few years time when series completed.

Extremely tempting way to collect, if I had quite that much patience it's what I'd do. Currently going with waiting on 2 trades to come out for each series I follow before I catch up, so I get a good 12 issue dose at a time. Literally just doesn't feel enough for me otherwise. Ends up feeling like the equivelant of a dvd boxset this way. I do break that on occasionally though, couldn't help but grab Prophet vol. 1 this week.

In my case won't be a test of patience. My reading of comics has been so sporadic that there's plenty of old stuff that I'm interested in that I've never got round to reading (e.g. John Ostranders runs on Grimjack and Firestorm, Ed Brubaker on Criminal).... and way comics are written now I find it far more enjoyable to read a long run of a single series at my own pace, than a dozen different series each month.

Can't wait for this. But shouldn't this thread be in the Image Comics forum?
