Really interesting that he's written the final page, as I'd say strong finishes is a particular strength of Vaughan's writing. Oddly, while I adored the end of Y (it put me in tears, one of maybe 10 works of entertainment to do so), I despised the ending of Ex Machina with absolute solidarity, what was in that final issue was the last thing I ever wanted to read.
It'll be interesting to see where Saga ends up. Right now --- it's my favorite thing Vaughan has ever written, and perhaps my favorite book on the stands.
Cheers.

SOunds like BKV has a plan coming together.
Can't wait to see what happens. And honestly a few months without an issue ain't the end of the world. Gives me more money to experiment with.
Great series! Books like this and other independents is where my money is going now that DC and Marvel are pandering to the new readers while alienating all of us old timers and our comc history!
I'm gonna pre-order the TPB so I can get in on this series in time for issue 7.
If you have not read this i highly recommend it. I just finished reading #6 and was bummed to find #7 will not be out until November.
It is good to see that BKV has a long term plan for this.
I think I will start following this series in trade. It gets such strong reviews and I really like the art and what I have read of BKV in the past, so it seems like a no-brainer.
The first trade drops in October and is only $9.99. Then in November Saga #7 starts the new arc that picks up right where the first trade left off so if you wanted to you could become a monthly reader without needing to fill the gaps. Just buy the $9.99 trade in October and you're good to go.
I only say this because I think you will be addicted. The writing is solid, the art is incredible. Fiona lands expressions, crazy scenery and character designs, and choreographed a really really amazing fight sequence. The book has read excellently month-to-month, really well paced. Every issue propels the larger narrative but also feels like a full and complete unit of story in and of itself.
Don't worry.

We are the X-men, and we stand together
You have to ask yourself, why IS it that Image are the only company to cop onto the idea of getting the trade out in time for the next consecutive issue, so you can jump from one to the next right away? I mean, that's the perfect way to hook in new monthly readers. But, no, no, DC, that's cool, please, take seven months to bring out that trade of Flash, that's fine.
I've been following Saga since it began. While the first couple of issues were okay, the series has really picked up since then. Vaughn's unique style along with Staples's colorful art blend perfectly in this story. It's a very diverse world, not unlike Star Wars as Vaughn mentioned. There's a love story here along with a story about parenting, which are very real situations. But there's also a sci-fi element here with all these twisted races and figures. It's the kind of thing that sounds like it wouldn't work on paper, but Vaughn finds a way to make it work here and for that I'm grateful. He says he has plenty of stories for years to come and I hope that's what we get!![]()

This interview coming right now smells to me like some people were worried readers were thinking it was going too slow. This interview is Vaughn going, "listen...it's going to come together and mean something! I promise!" Love that they do these though.

Wholeheartedly agree.
Saga is so good – so out-of-the-park a read for me that every time I finish reading an issue, I seriously look at some of the rest of my pull-list and think ‘why am I reading these, again?’
Between Saga, Fatale, and Manhattan Projects – which has really found its stride now – I am leaning towards dropping most of what I get from DC right now – those three titles alone are just so frikin’ good, that they have set a standard that’s pretty hard to top for me right now.
Daredevil and Punisher at Marvel are pretty close, with Winter Soldier a close third.
But ironically, it’s Image – a company that when it was born – held almost zero interest for me, that is now drawing more and more of my interest.
It isn’t inconceivable that within two years or less - and certainly depending on what other writers they line up – that I may be only buying Image titles and other independents.
Oh, and I really recommend Ennis’s The Shadow. Loving it.
Been reading comics since i was a kid, but i stopped buying the single issues and just getting the trades so i could get the entire storyline in one sitting. However, when I heard that BKV was putting out a new comic- I just couldn't wait for the trade. This is the only comic I go to the comic book store to get every month and it is damn worth it every time. BKV's words never cease to surprise me and make me laugh out loud and wow- Fiona's art is just mind blowingly beautiful. I might even buy the trade so i can pass it around to friends and get them hooked. I'm in for the long haul. :) Thanks for the great interview!
