I always liked the Randor's brother origin so I hope it isn't too different from that.

They should've gotten him to do the main series.

Hell, they probably still can. Only one issue has come out so far.

It should be pointed out that Frazer Irving is doing the art. That's a top-notch creative team, right there.

I was never a fan of MOTU growing up, but after seeing the 2000 cartoon and the Val Staples comics, I definitely saw the huge potential here. I'll check this out, esp for the writer, but i don't have a lot of hopes in DC's MOTU in the long term seeing that the LAST comic failed because of Mattel and based on the circumstances so far with DC, they clearly didn't learn a damn thing from that mess.

They really do need to learn to unclench and let the creative people they are working with do their jobs. Hasbro is famous for being very open and willing to work with creators, even when the property is pushed past Hasbro's own comfort zones. That's how we got Beast Wars, the first '30-minute toy commercial' to ever win an Emmy. Given how little money that He-Man is CURRENTLY making for Mattel, what with NO mass market toyline or cartoon, letting DC go a little nuts really can't damage the brand.

    Also, bada$$ cover art.
    Recommended Comics:
    Star Wars: Dark Times,
Richard Stark's Parker by Darwyn Cooke,
Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye

Sounds good, I'm really hopeful DC can do some good things with MOTU.

As a big fan of MOTU leaning towards the 200X and Classics (The most recent) continuities, this is nice. It's just a one shot, right? I might pick it up.

Seems like Abernathy recognizes good talent when he sees it, based on the lineup he's got on his books (he does Legends of the Dark Knight, National Comics and now this). It's a shame that the other editors at DC haven't got the same nose for talent. Cunningham in particular seems to go to Defalco almost by default now. Ugh.

I'd buy it for either one of them alone.
