Default Back into Comics after 10+ years

Haven't kept up with any comic stuff since the 90's. Where is a good place to start ? I'm thinking batman is a good character to start with, but where? Even though back in the day carnage was a favorite. Give me some direction

Check out the ogn Joker, Morrison's run and Batwoman: Elegy.
Hobos frighten me. It's time my enemies shared my dread.

Get Snyder's Batman run. It's great. Morison's Batman run is pretty good as well. Batman & Robin is really good as well. Damian is a really cool character, IMO. For Bat-family characters I also really like Nightwing and Batwing.

Snyder's and Morrison's Batman runs are both amazing and pretty recent, and all still canon after the New 52. Although I'd recommend skipping the first volume of Batman Inc. as I've read it 3 times and still don't have a clue what's going on. I'd also recommend you read the essentials: Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke, Death in the Family, Long Halloween, Dark Victory and Knightfall are basically the essentials, and also (with the exception of the Dark Knight Returns, which originally and still does take place in a apocalyptic alternate future ruled by George Bush and Joseph Stalin, although the only canon future in comics is Legion of Superheroes) are still in continuity despite the reboot. Batman, Nightwing, and Red Hood and the Outlaws are the only Bat-books currently worth getting.

Also about Carnage, he hasn't really appeared much after the whole 90's thing wore off, but he had a pretty bad mini-series this year called Carnage U.S.A, and there's going to be a 6-part crossover event called Minimum Carnage taking place in Scarlet Spider and Venom. The Scarlet Spider is back to Kaine in a sick new costume, and it's a pretty good book with art in my top 4 with Batman, Wonder Woman, and Batman: The Dark Knight. The first two of those are great, the third not so much. Venom is currently Flash Thompson bonded with the symbiotie as part of a top-secret government project. It started out great written by Remender but as soon as Williams got ahold of it starting Circle of Four, it's been horrible. Hope that was helpful.
Pull List: Action Comics, Batman, Chew, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Saga, Stormwatch, Wonder Woman

Thanks for the info on everything. Went to comic con this year for the first time in a long while. Got me excited to get back into it. Already got tickets for next year
