TNA needs to start signing guys to silly 3 year noncompetes.

It seems like they wouldn't want anyone from ROH who are only seen in select markets of the country . But honestly that isn't the case and we know since the guys listed were done even when weekly PPV's were happening.

Those guys don't have a downside.
TNA guys are seen by enough people that they can easily rebrand them.
TNA guys might have their TNA name attached to them and are seen as minor league instead of being seen as new guys.

That was my thought. For Super-Cena it's a really bad theme, for Heel-Cena it's pretty great. It's kind of too bad that Punk is using the whole "I deserve respect" / success got to his head angle, I actually think it would be a great angle for Cena to use.

And ROH doesn't ? Honestly... how many renames have we seen for ex-ROH guys and TNA guys ? The only rare times we have seen them not rename a guy is Monty Brown and CM Punk in recent years. But we have seen Scotty Goldman and numerous others be renamed by the WWE when they get a ROH guy. Its the same with a TNA one.

Ok thanks for correcting me. I guess I weirdly would just call him Monty Brown and forgot that dumb name they called him.

One of the things I heard about Punk and his contract deal last summer was that the company wanted basically rights to his name after he left the company and Punk was not wanting to do that. No clue if he ever settled that part and all. But given that they rename nearly everyone I can't help but think its something they are doing regardless who comes from TNA or ROH.

a number of older wrestlers cite lack of options, former college athletes who weren't good enough to go pro, or former pro athletes who had a short career and found their way to wrestling

Buff Bagwell did an interview with HBO Real Sports shortly after the Benoit murder/suicide and they asked him why - his answer, he'd been doing it since he was 17, never had a real job, no college, and barely finished high school

and there are number of guys who are educated who got into wrestling because they were fans or wanted to do something different...Miz, John Morrison, and David Otunga all have college degrees, Spike Dudley is a school teacher (was before wrestling and went back to it)...Otunga is a practicing lawyer (he actually is, I looked it up) but has been a WWE fan all his life

guys like Goldberg and Lesnar were great college athletes but just weren't good enough for the pros but still wanted a physical occupation and if you are a top guy you can make some money

and some guys aren't cut out for a 9 to 5

i think cena is like a marshmallow.

it's the same throughout. if you dig really really deep inside cena's soul... he's a face. if you dig really deeper to that dark place we all hide from the world ... he's still a face.

I have a feeling he'll never be a heel as part of the modern era. I guess maybe one day when he's no longer the company guy they'll try it, but by then nobody will really care.

It's crazy that Cena will probably have at least another 10 years in him and I guess he'll probably be the face of the company for that time too.
