I'm hoping that this storyline is going to address the consequences of the arc before. Also, I'm going to guess the anger of the fireman is there to show the resentment towards Asgardia in Broxton which will force it back into space thus removing every last element of the JMS run. You have to wonder if Marvel forget that there was a reason JMS was needed to reboot the series in the first place. They never learn.

Geez, whenever I see that Everything Burns tag-line, I just can't take Anastacia's voice out of my head.

    Peace

Alan Davis is an excellent artist, not expecting a great plot, but who knows?

Well nothing last forever. Also, sales for Mighty Thor have not been that great as of late. And really Asgard on Earth has been pretty much played out

I don't think they'll completely abandon Earth and only focus on Asgard. There are too many things that would be fun to do with Asgarians on Earth. However I do think they're going to develop the other seven realms which usually get ignored.

What I would like to see for Thor:

    1. Make politics real. Yes, Thor has power as crown prince, but this same position limits what he can do because people will see it as a reflection of what Asgard wants. He can't just slug it out with anyone and everyone, he has to make sure the political fall out won't cause problems. See Stark from Game of Thrones.

    2. Develop the other cultures. Actually, there should be multiple cultures for each of the other worlds as they're other worlds, not just other kingdoms. World build. It would make writing Thor in Asgard a lot easier for other writers, give them more plot hooks, and also make them different and interesting. Asgard likes war and fighting is a big part of their culture. What about dark elves? Are they matriarchal like D&D? What do they value? Who are their allies? What needs do they have? Religions? What to they make? What's their political system like? "Steal" from other sources if you have to, but make the other worlds interesting also. One of the reason I think people don't dig Thor on Asgard is that the other realms don't feel that real or exciting.

    3. Develop Balder. Really. Dump "Balder is good and therefore dumb", and go with "Balder is good and surprisingly insightful". Balder could be an amazing character if developed well. Oh, and don't feel like you have to make him a saint. Really, not all versions of Balder were that good. In fact, in some versions, his chasing after Nana (the moon goddess) is what got him killed, not Loki (yes, there are version where Loki didn't do it). Balder is an idealist and a solar deity.

    4. Split Asgard's kingship between all three kids. Thor, Loki, and Balder are like emotions, mind, and will respectively (or the cowardly lion, the tin man, and the scarecrow). They would balance each other out and prevent the disasters that have been each one ruling individually. There's no magic rule only one can be king, and frankly this would be a smart move for Odin.

I don't think Balder will ever get the love he deserves...From anyone except his adoring fans.

The only reason I'm hopeful for this arc is because Gillen will be co-plotting.

Fraction's work isn't completely bad but he seems to have completely run out of ideas rather quickly.

I think this might finally be the procursor to Asgard(ia) returning to their true dimension. The art reminds me of Avengers Prime with the team up of Thor, Cap, and Ironman.

Bad dialogue (for Thor). Stellar art. The Galactus Seed all over again.

Like the art - but it kinda reminds me more of how much I'm looking forward to Aaron's run starting in November
    DC - Aquaman
Marvel - Thor: God of Thunder, Hawkeye, Uncanny Avengers, Avengers, New Avengers, Superior Spider-Man

Everything but Asgard tends to get ignored.

What I would like to see for Thor:

    1. Make politics real. Yes, Thor has power as crown prince, but this same position limits what he can do because people will see it as a reflection of what Asgard wants. That is hard to make compelling.

    2. Develop the other cultures. Actually, there should be multiple cultures for each of the other worlds as they're other worlds, not just other kingdoms. World build. It would make writing Thor in Asgard a lot easier for other writers, give them more plot hooks, and also make them different and interesting. They can't even do the two main realms properly, that comes before doing the others I think. Thor needs firm grounding. Midgard needs to be the base of the Thor title and then branch out from there. Not Asgard which is usually the case.

    3. Develop Balder. Really. Dump "Balder is good and therefore dumb", and go with "Balder is good and surprisingly insightful". Balder could be an amazing character if developed well. Oh, and don't feel like you have to make him a saint. Really, not all versions of Balder were that good. Balder is good and just in a society that is corrupt, decadent and full of vice. Balder is torn between loyalty and his values.

That is basically the All-Mother though, but we have yet to see massive differences in their characters beyond sketches of their archetype.

Yeah, that caught me as well. I believe that's the sort of thing CBR explicitly prohibits.

EDIT: The original post we're referring to is gone. So - er - move along, etc.
