Default Worst example you've ever been given.

I was just on the Olympics thread when someone said to me 'Usain Bolt not being arrogant is like a Dog not barking'
LOLWUT? I loled so hard and decided to make this thread, no insults please to members but some of the crap I see is hilariously awful.

I don't see what's wrong with that. Dogs bark and (apparently...I don't know who it is) this other guy is arrogant. Hawks not flying. Cows not mooing. Horses not running. All that stuff works as far as I can see.

EDIT: BTW, just to be a pedantic dick, that's not an "example", it's a simile.

No, I'm not sure you read it right.
I argued Usain bolt is amazing, yet he can be a BIT arrogant and they said 'All athlete's in the world are, its like a dog not barking' I find that a pathetic comment, a dog not barking? Compared to an Athlete not being rude???

You really needed to make a new thread for this instead of just discussing it within the original thread?

Athletes need to be arrogant on some level in order to perform. Olympics isn't about elementary school where everyone gets a trophy for participation. It's about being the best of the best. And part of that must including arrogance.

I bet if we took a poll, you'd be pretty much alone with your findings.

Yes, in some aspects but comparing them to dogs not barking? Kinda strange I say. Dog's barking is a form of communication. Athlete's being arrogant is a form of intimidation, confidence and desire.
    Big difference.

You do understand it's not a literal comparison of the two activities, but rather a comparison of two things that come naturally, right? I'm not saying they're right or wrong in their opinion, but it's a perfectly valid statement.

I'm not too sure on that.
There is no comparison between a dog and an athlete, Dog's bark for: Food/Water/Attention/Fear/Intimidate/Fun/Playing
    Athlete's are arrogant for: Success/Desire/Ambition.
I see how its a comparison but it doesn't work out.

    DebkoX really isn't getting it:

Because you're making a literal comparison. It's quite simple. Dogs bark. Naturally. It's what they do. It's something they're know for. If you see a dog, it would not be at all surprising if they barked. The comparison is that athletes are arrogant. Naturally. It's what they do. It's something they're known for. If you see an athlete, it would not be at all surprising if they were arrogant.

It has nothing to do with comparing dogs to athletes.
