He definitely emphasizes shock and big moments over characterization. I think it all depends on what you are in the mood for. I think it's kind of a shame that he is pumping out all of these miniseries though, as one of the biggest strengths of UXM run was the build up.

I thought Superman Red Son had some interesting moments, I also liked some of the characterization moments in MK Spider-Man. Millar is very hit or miss.

However I thought the Kick Ass movie was better then comic, because Big Daddy was more sympathetic in the movie and thus a deeper character.

Agreed! I would've liked to have seen the Bendis/Millar collaboration on Ultimate Fantastic Four go a little better. I was hoping that we would get Millar's bombastic big moments, and Bendis' spot on character moments. Unfortunately, I don't think it went that way.

Yeah that's interesting. I generally don't like either writers, but their strengths and weaknesses potentially could balance out to get a really well rounded writing style. Unfortunately, I didn't like it at all. At least Warren Ellis wrote some good stuff in there.

Mark Millar is basically Geoff Johns, except tries harder to be cool and edgy.

It's a shame they ignored the interesting stuff that Ellis brought into the series. E.g.: Doom having satyr legs and Johnny shedding his skin regularly.

Does anyone even know how much of that was actually Millar? It felt wayyy more like a Bendis book to me.

Good run, back when Millar didn't write for shock value and wrote with excellent storytelling without having to use rape.

*Remembers Logan sleeping with a underage Jean*

    Oh yeah,crap.

Jean wasn't underage, she was 20.

I do agree it was weird considering Nick Fury and Logan are both in their late 90s. However, one can say Jean had good taste in men until she began dating Cyclops. Although she improved when she dated mall cop Dave in Ultimate X and Xorn in Ultimate Comics: X-Men.

Did she really date him(Dave)? Thought she just made that all up and changed people's minds to cover her new identity and prevent people from remembering her as Jean.

Dave thought he knew her for months, but that was it. He still had willpower and was in a relationship with her. If you re-read Ultimate X #2 you see he even screwed up by posting a picture of Jean/Karen on Facebook. Also, she must have had feelings for him, otherwise she wouldn't have grieved him after Sabretooth eviscerated the poor guy.

Jean was 17 in the first run, it was changed to 19 in the tpb. Still 17 is legal in NY.
    1) Find a bad guy
    2) Be Wolverine
Ultimate Wolverine is coming back, sort of!

She was 20 in my copy of the story. And again, when I first read Ultimate Marvel comics, I read them in Spanish. This is why I now read things in their original language.
