Bunn came on because he's taking over the title. The transition is easier when the new guy starts as a co-writer.

I think the whole double shipping issue is person specific. I can understand why some people have a problem with it (because they are on fixed budgets) but Marvel shipping more of my what I like more frequently can't make me permanently stop what I like.
I don't have a fixed budget for comics, so it isn't so much of a problem for me. However, as I said earlier, I generally delay things I can't afford immediatel and I only read what I enjoy.
Adults struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life when the answer is obvious to the smallest child: because it's not real. - Grant Morrison
There's another thread just chock full of this debate somewhere on this board.
I don't like it because it does cost more money monthly -- which of course is why Marvel is doing it.
It also contributes to even poorer sales of the mid and lower tier books, as people drop them for the 'important' double shipped titles, as well as makes it less likely someone is going to add a new title.
I also don't like inconsistent art and rotating art team on a book. All too often it makes for visual whiplash and results in rushed deadlines where you get 3 artists and 3 inkers on a single issue.... if you're lucky.
It also puts a strain on the writers, who can't write a book sequentially any more, but have to write the present arc and the next arc simultaneously to feed pages to the artists. It also means they can't write as many different titles, since they are basically writing two books a month for a single title.
For me, it's just a matter of my pull list being way too damn big. Even if I really like the comic, I have plenty of great reading material, so double shipping for me just means more money spent on comics each month. I do love the stories but I'd be just as happy waiting 4 weeks rather than 2 for a new comic. It's why I ended up dropping Amazing Spider-Man.. a book I really enjoy.

I can only really look at it from having been accustomed to once a month shipping and enjoying a wide range of titles to finding that I was spending almost twice as much some months and then needing to choose which titles I had to drop due to a budget. That sucks. It wasn't so bad following ASM knowing it double shipped, but as someone else mentioned that was replacing three Spider-Man titles. It is just when I go from picking up nine X-Men (and related) titles to 16 any given month that I see that as too much. Since I find there are enough interesting titles shipping once a month to keep my comics budget worth the money, I'll avoid anything that double ships. Maybe if I couldn't find 20 comics I really like I'd be fine with buying 10 twice a month.
I think the people who love double-shipping and those that don't can all agree on one thing: Marvel should be upfront about which titles double-ship and those that don't. Not only that but if a title double-ships it would do so on a consistent basis.
I can see where those on a budget can be shell-shocked when certain titles they follow start double-shipping without much notice and in a somewhat random manner.

Yep - http://forums.comicbookresources.com...ouble-shipping.
And it could arguably go into the Business Practices thread - http://forums.comicbookresources.com...ces-Discussion.
My comic collection. Go on, have a look. You know you want to.

Double-shipping happens frequently enough and for enough titles that absolutely no one should be "shell-shocked" at it's occurence. Best rule of thumb is just to assume that a title is going to double-ship. Hell, there might even be a sattelite title (like an Annual for instance) thrown in for good measure. Those of us who are paying attention to monthly solicitations recognize Marvel's scheduling methods and aren't exactly caught off-guard.

New Avengers, Morbius The Living Vampire, Scarlet Spider, Iron Man, Fearless Defenders, Fantastic Four, Deadpool Killogy, Savage Wolverine, Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men & X-Force, Cable & X-Force, Gambit
Yeah, that wasn't just because of double shipping, Marvel has done the co-writer take over thing for numerous books, the last 3 runs (Brubaker to Fraction to Gillen) of Uncanny X-Men had the future writer come in to co-write, as did Ultimate Comics: The Ultimates (Hickman to Humprhies), Avengers: The Initiative (Slott to Gage) and a few other titles. It is easier to transition the old writer out and the new writer in. Not to mention sometimes, the original writer is already mentally clocked out but the plot is there, the co-writer does the heavily lifting.
It doesn't bother me a bit. I buy my books online and tend to save around 40%-50% on my single issues. Paying full price on $4 books is for suckers.
Today, I make no demands... no threats! But, one day, I shall voice demands -- and all shall obey them!
Double-shipping and 3.99 have pretty much drove me to stop picking up monthly books. I am going to finish out Avengers vs. X-Men and Spider-Men. But at the end of the day, I like the quality of a collected edition better and there is no point in owning two of the same copies. Yeah, I will have to wait longer but I can find plenty of other books to read in the mean time. Or go to the gym more.
While the price is annoying its not the main issue for me.
Double shipping coupled with $3.99 is why Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Britain, Agents of Atlas, and other great but 2nd tier titles got cancelled. The double whammy massively affected a lot of people's pocketbooks and forced them to choose between the double shipped titles and these 2nd tier titles and we can see the results by what got cancelled.
If you read comics because of Spidey, Wolverine, and the other big guns and can afford it then great for you. If you found yourself tired to death of reading the same old **** involving these major titles, and I say that as an 25+ year Uncanny X-men junkie, then your really sad and bitter that when some good new stuff died and went away all in the name of double shipping and $3.99.
Thats why double shipping sucks. It kills everything thats not X-men, Avengers, or Spidey centric.
Price your book at $3.99 and I'll trade wait. Make me wait too long for the trade PAPERback and I'll say screw it. I'm looking at you Marvel and Spider Island.
