Default Ultimate Comics X-Men costumes...what happened to them?

Is anyone else a little bummed that their costumes only appeared on the covers and never inside the actual book?

    NO!

I am actually glad they never wore those ridiculous half-assed excuses for costumes. I was right, I predicted these awful things were only fillers and would never actually be used.

Brian Wood is a genius. True super heroes don't need stupid costumes, all they need is to be themselves.

Not really. Ultimate covers tend to be inaccurate a lot. Kaare Andrews probably had no say in the actual design in the story. Not that I liked these costumes. Johnny and Iceman look cool though.

That Kitty Pryde design is great, I would have loved to see it in the comics. And I'd like to at least see Jimmy put on the Wolverine suit, but only if it's just temporary. It could be a fun gag, but it's not a great design.

Also, Brian Wood's stance is not that "real superheroes don't need costumes." It's just that this isn't the time for them. I can assure you, if he was writing the Ultimates, they wouldn't trade their outfits for armbands.
I like Ultimate Comics. - Read them with us!

I also buy: Captain America, Avengers, FF, New Avengers, X-Factor, among others

I LOVED those costumes. It's a shame they were never used.

Agree, it could have been cool. But oh well, though one day the series could go in the direction where the x-men use them.

They had to get rid of them because they didn't look like crap.

In that cover Kitty's uniform didn't really represent her role in the book or the direction in which the Shroud went in. Johnny's costume is in bad taste IMO and Jimmy's is even worse. It's way too flamboyant for an Ultimate character like Jimmy to wear. It screams 'I'm a 616, obnoxious superhero and I've lost my cape. Doesn't my ass look nice and tight in this spandex? Let's go beat up some baddies!" :D

Not especially given the circumstances of the story. I can live without the X-Men ever wearing costumes again in this universe, honestly.

Agreed. Leave the obnoxious costumes to 616.

It shows a lack of imagination and goes against the spirit of the Ult Marvel U. If they want to get away from the tropes of the 616 and do completely different things they need to stop using costumes as their crutch. It's unnecessary and in the case of Bobby "Hey im fully encased in ice but let me put on this ballcap with an X on it" Drake looks ridiculous.

I don't agree. I dislike superheroes who don't wear costumes. They aren't superheroes to mean they don't have costumes. Now that doesn't mean the Ultimate Universe needs to use the 616 costumes. I liked Torch costume because it makes him apart of the team. I don't see it in bad taste since he wears the X as a big symbol. I have always hated Ice Man wearing a head gear in the ultimate verse. They could find some creative way to show him off. I actually prefer Kitty's white costume. The one in the picture does seem so uninspired and her white one takes far more control.

I really like Jimmys outfit. I think it certainly presents Logans costume as more of a uniform then a costume. Though my issue with X so far is Jimmy hasn't been given any real development except crushing on the only chick he hangs out with. It's so cliche.

Real superheroes don't need costumes. That's the point of this, that ANYONE can be a hero, not just weirdos in bright costumes/uniforms. They represent Xavier's cause with their arm bands.

Think of superheroics as being a Jew in Nazi Germany. Just because they were Jews they were not going to go wearing costumes that made them stand out from the crowd.
