    It was DECENT.

The Riddler wasn't true to character because the Riddler isn't meant to be a giggling lunatic who employs technology like the item displayed in the film. Since when has the Riddler been remotely obsessed with stealing the intelligence of other people? He's perfectly capable of using his own. The earlier aspect of the character - specifically the one who leaves riddles for Bruce, he IS accurate to the character, but next to nothing else in the film is.

He's been portrayed that way before, as previously stated.

The Joker doesnt have smile scars on his face. The Joker doesnt have face paint. The Joker is never serious.
Harvey Dent doesnt wear a broken, tattered burnt suit.
Bane isnt white. Bane doesnt wear a gas mask. Bane isnt an urban terrorist. Bane doesnt wear military gear.
Batman doesnt wear heavy segmented armor.

These character all differ from the source, that doesnt mean they dont have aspects of the characters core infused in them.

I actually till date enjoy this film for a lot of reasons and Nicole Kidman was or I think is one of the best Bat Dame’s to date. Maggie Gyllenhall and Katie Holmes?

Also Nicole’s character Chase is a tribute to Silver St Cloud, and there were some scenes in Batman forever that were ditectly taken from the comics, like when Batman came into Chases Bed Chambers, that was taken directly from the comic books.

Overall it was a blast and I don't regard it with disdian like "Batman & Robin"

The script is literally nothing but puns, Warners did not force that. lol

B&R's script was a follow-up to Forever's script full of double entendres... which would have been cool only with a meta ending that revealed that Two-Face wrote the movie.

I liked the idea that two Face would have two girlfriends and Riddler destroying the batcave. I thought the whole movie was pretty much like a episode of the tv show.

I believe certain aspects of the film were dictated by the studio. For instance, in the original script, The Riddler wore baggy pants (I have no idea why) but Warners licensed the design to Hasbro in order to make creating the toy line easier - which is why The Riddler's pants are super tight. I suspect (but have no evidence for it) that Two-Face's suit had that strange leopard print half because of a similar circumstance.

That said, the movie is god awful. The best part of the movie for me was when Nicole Kidman was trapped in that weird glass cylinder because then I didn't have to listen to her anymore >.< I generally like Nicole Kidman, but everything she says in Batman Forever made me groan.

Also, I openly mock anyone who says that traces of Batman Forever were in Arkham City. I implore those individuals to actually play the game, because no such traces exist.

Blaming Warner Bros for B&R is something that has like 15% truth, the rest is just nonsense from the last few years. Honestly, some fans - after seeing the bonus extras/commentary on the DVDs - are convinced Joel Schumacher is an innocent victim that the mean-old-suits forced to make a s**t movie.

I hated Batman Forever but like it in light of how terrible Batman and Robin was. BF at least had some of the Burton feel left in it.

I thought the villains were well casted. Val Kilmer is a great actor but I didn't like him as Batman. I hated the bamobile at first but I've come to like it.

Most importantly, I can at least sit through the movie in one sitting and be entertained. I can't suffer through B&R.

Lastly- "HOLY RUSTED METAL, BATMAN!" lolz.

BTW, maybe my recollection is faulty, but I seem to remember that Batman Forever was seen as a breath of fresh air by audiences at the time, something more in the classical superhero mode but still dark.

I don't condemn them as much for the simple fact that Schumacher is so apologetic when asked about them.

I remember non Batman/comics fans liking it but those of us into Batman not approving of it. Batman Forever was a little bit on the silly side with Batman and Robin being WAY so ridiculous it was like Adam West Batman again.

I found the dark overtones in BF hard to see with all the silliness draped over it.

I liked it at the time and still do, though not as much as Burton's films.

I remember my friends enjoyed it more than the first two, though. It probably helped that the film was packaged like a music video (and indeed, the soundtrack was one of the appeals at the time). That's not to say there's not a story behind it, because there definitely is, but Schumacher appealed to alternative rock sensibilities where Burton went in for German expressionism (or so I'm told, not being an expert). The Flaming Lips, U2 and Seal meant more to my friends than Prince. I got a few people I worked with to go to the midnight showing with me.
