Justice League Dark has also been turned into a generic action book that happens to have magic themed characters.

Snyder has driven me away from Batman with the awful Court of Owls (pretentious imagery, heavy handed metaphors, major character regression, laughably bad mystery plot, etc) and even his Swamp Thing is only decent at best and doesn't add anything new to the character.

I've only read the trades of both Animal Man and Batman so I might not be coming from an as up to date point of view as yourself, but I'd disagree on both of them. Regardless, American Vampire and Sweet Tooth show the quality both of these writers bring to DC and I think we've certainly seen that quality already from both of them. Black Mirror was a hugely popular run on Batmn pre-new 52, and a very well written one. Gates of Gotham was excellent too.

Though that's just my opinion, I'm a big fan of their DC and Vertigo work.

I think DC obliterates Marvel in their stable of artists, and I care about art a bit more than writing with comics, so that is a big reason why I like DC more.

I also think Marvel is too editorially driven. They have some decent writers but when everything is just tied into whatever the current event is, it's not like the writers are able to do that much.

That is recent. While people were paying attention to Hickman and Spencer signing exclusives for Marvel, DC gathered most of the great artists in the industry.
