Sorry in advance if this was posted in the wrong thread. I am essentially a newcomer to comics although growing up I had an older cousin who read them (X-Men and Spider-Man mostly from what I remember) and I would read those comics and I have since gotten back into them after finding a local comic shop when I relocated. I first read AvX (not very impressed) and am now reading Batman, Deadpool, Uncanny Avengers, Indestructible Hulk and I am thinking about getting Cable and X-Force when it comes out. I am thinking about dropping Batman but a friend of mine said to keep reading because I haven't gotten to the Death of The Family yet and I am also thinking about dropping Deadpool as I haven't really liked the 2nd or 3rd issues. With that said I will need to add 1 or 2 more titles from the Marvel NOW! titles (prefer Marvel)depending on if I drop 1 or both titles as my local comic shop offers 25% off new titles on your pull list as long as you have 5 titles. I am not really familiar with the writers and artists so any suggestions for good titles are much appreciated!

If you liked Hunger Games or Battle Royal you should try Avengers Arena.
If you like teenage superhero teams try Young Avengers.
If you like teams who actually kills try Thunderbolts.
If you want to see really intelligent people protecting the world try New Avengers.
If you like mythology try Thor.
If you want to read X-Men I suggest you to get All-New X-Men and/or Uncanny X-Men.(Cable and X-Force looks good too though)
If you like Spider-Man you should try Superior Spider-Man.
    Squad Name: Star Indigo Nightmare

    Avengers Alliance - Level 91

You're giving him too many options Captain M. He wants to be told what to get.

Thor: God of Thunder seems to be the most universally praised/reccommended from what I've seen.

Avengers won this poll by a decent margin and the fallout from it's first issue hitting last Wednesday hasn't really settled yet. Seems generally positive.

Get one or both of those.

I'd strongly recommend Thor: God of Thunder. It's considered by many, myself included, to be the very best Marvel NOW book.

I would also recommend giving Captain America a try. Perhaps don't add it to your pull list right away, but give the first issue a shot. I loved it - it's a VERY different Captain America take, sort of Steve Rogers does John Carter/Warlord of Mars.

It's worth bearing in mind, however, that Avengers is a twice-monthly, $3.99 book. So if budget is an issue, bear that in mind.

    My current pull list:
    A+X
    All-New X-Men
    Avengers
    Fantastic Four
    Iron Man
    New Avengers
    Superior Spider-Man
    Uncanny Avengers
    Uncanny X-Men
    Wolverine
    [Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man
    Dark Knight]

    Thinking of but unsure of:
Cable & X-Force: I have not much knowledge on X-Force except when Cable would come to the present in the 90's X-Cartoon but I've heard great things.
Nova: I saw the preview and it was iffy but the character really interests me.
Savage Wolverine: I love Wolverine so..

I wanna round it down to 12, maybe 9 even just cause of those twice-monthly titles. Is Iron Man twice monthly? Also thinking of dropping F4, cause of the fact that you need FF with it and I only wanted to get a bit of F4 since I'm not too into them. Wondering if I should keep with A+X. They're fun but I don't know. It feels like A+X will be limited, very limited. Eventually they'll run out of team-ups and it'll last maybe 20-30 issues. I also really want a lot more Spidey.. Peter Parker as Spidey in particular. But I guess that's not happening.. What do you guys think?

Your opinion is right. Thor is the best.

As for right now, my list is as follows:

    1. Thor: God of Thunder (Marvel's crown jewel right now as far as I'm concerned. Between the groundbreaking characterization and gorgeous artwork, you can't go wrong)
    2. Uncanny Avengers (Solid and consistent. Definitely the boldest title. The potential for the next few issues is tremendous)
    3. Indestructible Hulk (I'm a Waid fan, and I appreciated this new direction for Hulk. It's refreshing. Another book with great potential)
    4. All New X-Men (Yes, there is the usual Bendis dialogue, but the art is pretty and the story is promising)
    5. Avengers (Totally new approach to the team. A rather mediocre opening but there is definitely tons of potential for an epic tale)
    6. Journey Into Mystery (I like Sif and Immonen's script was rather strong in the latest issue. Curious to see which direction it will take)
    7. FF (A very interesting and diverse group taking the real FF's place. Artwork is neat)
    8. Fantastic Four (It's always fun when Reed is up to something and hides it by claiming he wants to take his family for a dimension-hopping vacation. Bagley is his usual, capable self)

I tried Iron Man but the first issue was so blah I didn't bother continuing. Greg Land's art is a big reason for this.

I've heard from my friend that Thor is awesome also. Haven't heard much about Cap but I'll try most anything once. I did try out Iron Man #1 and didn't like it AT ALL. I also have heard from numerous people that Hawkeye is an awesome book and that I should try it out. The budget isn't an issue but the only thing that I am a little wary of with Avengers is the amount of characters Hickman said he would be using in that series. Because I am essentially new, that aspect seems a little overwhelming.

Think I'm gonna add Avengers Arena to my pull list now. Really good first issue!
Avengers Arena is one of the best books in the shops right now, it's seriously amazing.

So am I Especially as it had my interest since the announcement!

Although I seem to be liking more new titles than my budget can handle long-term... So some cleaning up of my pull list is in order for the new year. But Arena is definitely safe.

I've dropped JIM after reading a brilliant article on IGN.
