    Default Preview: Sensational Spider-Man #33.1

The preview is up on CBR.

Will be interesting to have Tom Defalco back writing Spidey, the art looks good too.

Hmmm...Carly seems like kind of a bitch. Trash talking the villains and the "so-called" heroes then questioning if Spider-Man cares that live are at stake when she knows the kind of person Peter is. Seems a bit out of character for her.

This... might be the only time I enjoy of Carly. I do enjoy stories of cops not liking Superheroes and playing off that.

I think this may take place before she discovered Peter's secret, given the presence of the Jimmy Natale Vulture, who was apparently killed off in Punisher.

It also says that it takes place shortly after J.J.J. was elected Mayor.

    Good point.
I wonder if she ever had some hidden animosity towards Peter when she did find out he was one of those so called heroes

Her being upset with Peter after she found out he was Spider-Man wasn't exactly "hidden."
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

Not to mention this is also taking place before Peter and Carlie officially became a couple. If you read the narrative boxes, the guy she's telling to get to safety is someone she's out on a date with.

It certainly does give her anger towards Peter once she did find out he was Spider-Man that much more justification. Problem is the "webheads" during "Brand New Day" and especially Dan Slott from "Big Time" on have gone out of their way to show that Carlie was a Spider-Man supporter, willing to help him out whenever he requested her help. After all, she did get a tattoo of his face on her hip and was thrilled as punch to learn that Peter was "his tech guy."

Yeah but was she upset that he was Spider-Man or was she upset that he didn't tell her?

Yup, the way that she is portrayed now definitely doesn't jive with how she is shown in this preview

She was upset that he didn't tell her.

Carly hasn't expressed any problems working with Spider-Man before that.

Enjoyed that issue, it's been good having different writers take on Spidey again, hope Marvel bring back this and Peter Parker back as regular series.

This didn't feel like a Tom DeFalco issue though, not sure if it's down to different style of art than I'm used to with his writing or down to using Carly more than Spidey, but it felt different to his past Spidey work. I'm still not a Carly fan, I'm sure she'll come around to thinking Spidey's pretty good by the end of next issue, but I don't think that's going to help.

I thought this issue was disappointing. It felt more like a Carlie story than a Spider-Man story. It was also somewhat ho-hum, not exactly up to stuff for an anniversary issue. I did like how Carlie is draw here though.
His memory's gone! Or...is it? It's not hard to fake amnesia! The Goblin is capable of anything!
