I do not understand how this film will not be an enormous financial failure.

^Who cares? I'd rather a good film then a successful film (of course, whether it's good is yet to be seen).
I liked the prospects of this writer's "quirky comedic" style, this gives me hope that Giffen's Star-Lord mini might set the tone for the movie and certain characters. Looking forward to it.
Wake me up when it's over...
WAAAAAAAAAIT!
They have a Black Widow script. They have a Black Widow, yet they're still not making a Black Widow film?
Or are they talking a comic script?
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
I still think that it is a huge mistake to based the GOTG movie off of the 2009 DnA version instead of the original 1969 version co-created by Arnold Drake. The original GOTG is less complicated and more movie friendly then the new version. Also, if we use the very small comic book industry as a barometer for success, the 90's GOTG series (which was the original GOTG team) lasted longer then the DnA series.
I have a bad feeling that the Marvel movies that adapt the modern day Marvel stories (stories that were published under the Quesada/Alonso EIC regimes) MIGHT prove to be either under performers at the box office or complete box office failures.

I'm so glad that they are going with the DnA version of the Guardians instead of the original version. Those guys looked like losers!

I have a fondness for both versions of the GotG teams and, while I don't see either translating to the screen very well, I think the old one could be even worse. I wonder if they could modernize it the way they kinda did near the beginning of the current series.
Please pardon any aggressive auto-correct feature typos.
I don't think that's true at all. Especially with Thanos in the mix in the MCU, which gives relevance to some of these characters.
Why's that? A lot of the movies have had heavy influence from recent comics or have had rather original stories. If those can succeed then there's no reason that more direct adaptations of them couldn't.
With the Thanos direction that Marvel Pictures is going, there's ZERO reason to include the Seventies Guardians.
Drax, on the other hand, owes his origin to Thanos. Using the current Guardians team makes perfect sense, and I think the film should key the origin of the Guardians team around this origin.
The Road to Serenity is Paved with Fireflies.
How is a team based in the 30th century less complicated?
Also, how could anyone want Black Widow to have her own movie before new properties are developed. Dat ass can't hold a film together.
Pretty sure the SHIELD movie will substitute any Black Widow, Hawkeye, Fury and War Machine movie. So far as that old ass collider interview was concerned anyways, and it made sense.
Back on topic; I thought they already had a screenplay? The early rumours had something in them about the greenlight being given because of a solid piece of writing. If so, why they have this new guy doing it?
Now just because you prefer the older team, don't make stuff up.
The new team is basically a bunch of prisoners who were recruited for a suicide mission. The old team has all time travel shenanigans to deal with. You can have mystery surrounding Gamora with her ties to Thanos revealed later on in the film. Drax could be a loner who has a secret mission of his own. Done.
