Oh yeah ;P I can't wait for this.

If they do this right, it could be amazing; however, given that First Class had some major issues (and some kinda disturbing undertones), I'm not sure that they can pull it off.

But hope springs eternal, as they say, so I'll give it a go. Definitely interested in seeing previews for it.

Read about this yesterday on AICN. Still good to have confirmation. My wish list for DoFP.....

    - Rachel Summers.
    - Even if for just a cameo, Hugh Jackman as an, and destined to die, older Wolverine.
    - A Franklin "Scrapper" Richards cameo. Totally possible since FOX has the rights to the FF too.
    - Setting the movie's present ahead about 10 later, to about 1972 or so.
    - Kitty/Kate Pryde.
    - At least one decent Sentinel fight.

That's all. I'm not asking for panel for panel translation. As long as they get the basics right. X-Men 3, for as much as people complain, still gave us a nice glimpse (Danger Room) of what a post apocalyptic future for the X-Men could look like.

he mentioned tying into the other films, I'm thinking that might just confirm we'll be seeing some actors from the first trilogy.

Wolverine could have a bigger role in this, I beg so.

Actually, I hope not. Have Wolverine, in the present, be on one of his own personal quests. This way, when we see an older version of him in the future, it's a total surprise. Jackman's generally got a full plate. IMO, this is probably the only way to make Wolverine's presence in the movie happen.

Would be an excellent way to have both Fassbender AND McKellen play Magneto. One for the present/past. One for the future. They sorta did something similar with the Romijn cameo in First Class.

I would have preferred this at the end of the trilogy.

This is a very ambitious undertaking, there's so much they could conceivably go wrong with, but if done right this could be phenomenal.

I'm hoping they go a direction similar to what the new Star Trek film did and use the time travel aspect to effectively reboot the continuity of the original trilogy. First Class was a perfectly fine way of starting fresh, now let's tie it together and move on with a new direction for the modern concepts.

An interesting thought is that one has to wonder how long this has been set. This being the next film works very, very well in context of the All New X-Men status quo that Bendis is planning. Having a plotline involving the X-Men of the past coming to the future while working towards Days of Future Past is in production to make for a really easy to market trade.

I'd love it if the film's conclusion tied in with the modern era of the comics in a way where they resolve the DoFP timeline and end up with something similar to the modern Utopia concept.

I think DoFP doesn't really work as a bookend, it's too ambiguous. It's got that middle film vibe that Empire Strikes Back had.

I have to imagine they're taking the basic concept of "DoFP" and applying a new storyline that fits the movie and also brings something new to those who've read the source material. I'm going to guess we'll get one sequence with an older Wolverine, but not more.

    McClellan/Fassbinder team-up would be amazing!

I'm guessing they're using time travel as a way to retcon the previous movies without simply denying them (like the Star Trek reboot) which is fine with me. All their talk of "expanding" the X-Universe has me worried because of how badly they botched throwing in so many characters in X3. If they take their cue from "Avengers" then they can introduce characters *we're already familiar with* from the previous films without bogging down the story.
