true, it's sad and someone can correct me on this but it's like when it comes to people of color coming together ala Milestone others get the crab in a bucket syndrome and go for the "if I can't make it then you sure as hell can't you sell out"

I've never understood this mentality, myself. How does the desire to do well as group in order to succeed equate to "trying to cut my throat by helping me out"? Is the idea of possible/probable success over failure that scary to some people?

Sidenote. Roland , dont bother with some of those guys. More often than not I see people just use you as a back up for a particular talking point. I aint saying you dont push buttons, but for most part, you are calm.

Its actually pretty rational. People see that only a few "make it" or "allowed to shine", and they dont want you taking their spot.To have the level of hope and positivity to believe that you can change that is rare, and should be celebrated.

I'm still trying to figure out that Tyrese comic.

That was a book done for ATTENTION-not even Tyrese could tell you what that mess was about. He would have done better pitching a book featuring Static or whoever helping him.

That comic was a half-ass movie pitch. He was trying to get in on the "comic-to-movie" trend.

I think the chance to do that passed when Milestone and other black comic companies went at each other.

Nah, that's a little too defeatist for my taste. A 20 year old beef can't be the be-all-end-all of such ventures. I remember someone (McDuffie probably) writing in an early Milestone editorial about how some of the black comic artists from the 70s like Ron Wilson and Kerry Gammill would get together and talk about making a black comic company. Fast forward a couple decades and McDuffie, Priest and the rest actually made one. At some point in the future, someone else has to take the lessons learned so far (no crappy deals with the big 2, for one) and take it even further. Once I win the megamillions, it'll be me that does it heh heh.

I think we would have a rallying point if we control distribution of our product.

That's the big hurdle...large scale distribution. The content is already out there.

What's funny and sad is that in a podcast interview Cowan himself said at least damn near everyone talking mess about Milestone were some of the first ones asking for a autograph at conventions and telling him they don't really mean what they said in public
