Why not simply come up with a new name to call him. Since he seems to have different powers than the original Power-Man. Why not have a writer come up with a new name and go from there.

Or better yet, why can't we just call Luke Cage... oh I don't know... Luke Cage. It works for him and he doesn't need to change back. As for Marketing Concerns Luke has been known by that name in every modern cross media appearance he's made, so that's not even an excuse.

It could be worse though. Someone could've suggested he go back to his 70s character, full of Jive Talk and that Stupid Ass Tiara.

He's been on CNN and NPR (linked in article) to talk about it. He's a smart dude and huge comic book fan.

For what it worth, Luke Cage's last solo book in the 90's was simply called Cage.
So was the 2002 Brian Azzerello/Richard Corben Max miniseries.

Luke Cage, Power Man is really just a 70's-80's thing.

He hasn't gone by that name in a while.

I'm up for Bendis bashing as the next Avengers fan, but I can't honestly say that Bendis hasn't been good for Cage.

After all before Bendis Cage was stuck in limbo after the 90's version of Heroes for Hire got cancelled.
And as I mentioned Cage's solo was cancelled prior to that. Cage was a 2 time loser so to speak.

    Nobody was using him.

He went from limbo so being a major character in everything Bendis did up until New Avengers #34.
So the character's been from and center for nearly all Marvel events for the past 8 years (longer if you are counting Bendis Daredevil run).

If that's is a hatchet job I wish somebody would take the axe to Quasar like that.

I liked the new young Power Man, he had cool, different powers in the mini i read with him and Iron Fist. I hoped to see more of him but there is no place to read more of him shame. He seemed like interesting young hero.

I hope he isnt forgotten and lost. He could easily take new name and make his own place or connect with Iron Fist type world.

Fanboy (il)logic: If a character who is not a "classic" Justice Leaguer or Avenger gets any panel time whatsoever, he/she is being "shoved down our throats".

    I loved the tiara ...lol.

I've always called him Luke Cage : POWERMAN ...I didn't care if it was dropped as part of his name. As a fan of the Power Man & Iron Fist team , that to me was a part of his name . I know some will disagree and some will get angry. But whenever I see Luke Cage I think of his code name POWER MAN.

I had the great fortune to play footbal in HS(linebacker) and had some good size on me. So my life as a videogame playing, sci-fi loving, comicbook reading, Star Trek watching black guy was never threatened by those who would have considered me a nerd. I even listened to Rock music(Van Halen-David Lee Roth only!).

Today it's really no big deal now. Many athletes profess their love of comics.

I like the tiara, too-- you gotta be badass to pull it off. I view it as the comics equivalent of LeBron's head band. Don't want the '70s attitude back, though.

I also liked the new Power Man. Character definitely has a lot of potential.

Lance Briggs from the Bears was shopping at my LCS not too long ago. I was checking out when he came in, so I don't know what books he collects, but he definitely had that look in his eye that he knew what he was looking for.

He's actually like the fourth Marvel Power-Man. Including this guy:

Of course, Erik Josten has a history of ripping off superhero names. After he was Power-Man, he was Goliath.
