Default 616 Becoming More Like Ultimate

    Between

    and

    and

616 is becoming just a bit more like the UU, even though the orginal intent was to make 616 a bit more like the movieverse

How do you guys feel about this?

I, for one, am totally against. This bullshit straight up undermines the purpose of the UU, which is to provide an alternate Marvel universe for people to enjoy

Costumes and appearances does not a character make.
Anyone who doesn't like Miles Morales is a racist.

The influence is pretty undeniable though. All Fury junior needs is a trench coat and head be ultimatized.

This is an image from "Xtreme X-Men" circa 2001, the UU has been creeping in on 616 for over a decade now. It all started with Wolverine, everything begins and ends with Wolverine.

On a only partially related note, I hope that someday Logan dons this costume again in 616 as it is my favorite costume ever for him.
    1) Find a bad guy
    2) Be Wolverine
Ultimate Wolverine is coming back, sort of!

I don't know how long you've been reading comics but I can assure you that aesthetics are extremely important to a character/person. If you don't believe me, hit the gym three times a week for 6 months and see for yourself. Literally everyone you know will recognise you as a 'better' man.

    Also, if aesthetic's weren't important:
    - No one would give a damn about Ultimate Cap's current outfit
    - The American Music industry wouldn't be entirely made up of talentless singers who rely on looks alone and use that silly Smurf/Synthesised sounding voices to hide the fact that they can't sing
    - Sony would cease production of the PS4
    - The Disney Channel would stop marketing sex at little girls
    - Essex girls wouldn't look so orange
    - I wouldn't care for my six-pack and neither would anyone else
    - The economy would fall due to the lack of income from sexual advertising that is fuelled by the corrupt, profitable Monetary-Market-System that generates Consumerism and drys up all our resources
    - No one would bother with wearing nice clothes

Cap is very much looking like the Ultimate version in this shot over in Avs.X number 6.

I think it's inevitable because the Ultimate heroes are rooted in a more techno-savvy reality. They need an update for the 21st century. At least Marvel thinks so.

I think it's more a case of 616 wanting to be more like the movies, since the movies have an ultimate influence (often heavy) it's a logical step.

Personally, I don't really mind some of the characters getting some redesigns that reflect the UU as it really does show that the UU has a lot more influence than just being that alternate universe. After all, when was the last time we saw an alternate universe have so much influence on 616?
Holding out for a Peter/Miles team up.

You do realise I meant 'Important to the character'?

Sure, it has nothing to do with character development but it does create a sense of individualism and provides at least some insight into their role, importance, status and even character choices and incentives as to why they be wearing it.

For example, Hawkeye's new costume won't develop his character any further but it will make him a more likeable character. Seriously, his Ultimate/Movie inspired costume will ensure that his popularity will greatly increase over the coming years.

His costume isn't why people like him, they like him because of who he is as a character. It's like they say "clothes don't make the man"

That is true but at the same time, it is also the reason why Marvel decided to go for a radically different Ultimate Universe via previous events. The line between the two blurred too much, hence Peter Parker is dead in this reality, a chunk of Europe is controlled by highly evolved tech heads from the future and mutants were by products of the Super soldier experiment.

Yes this is true, but the costumes that the characters are wearing don't really affect any of that. Even if the characters are dressed similarly, the stories are still radically different as are the personalities of the characters. 616 characters wearing costumes that look similar to the UU's won't make their stories any more similar. Costumes=/=story, just a nice visual touch.
